1623 Studios Cape Ann TV building out on Pleasant Street

Change is coming to the streetscape beneath the stunning oriels.

There’s work in progress underway at 11 Pleasant Street downtown Gloucester: 1623 Studios (Cape Ann TV) is building out in the former Cape Ann Art Haven Hive space. I interviewed the station director, Erich Archer, back in 2016 (here) and recall him expressing some street presence downtown as one goal among many. The space on the right of the entrance at 11 Pleasant Street (7 Pleasant Street ,formerly Ruby Wolf) is available to rent.

Schooner Dock Walk

I took some time yesterday morning to walk a couple of docks and admire a few schooners up close.  They are incredibly magnificent….true pieces of maritime art.

A Few Photo Impressions of the Adirondacks

We have visited the Adirondack Mountains in N.Y. on a regular basis since 1972. Over the years, I scaled 38 of the 46 Adirondack peaks with summits over 4,000 feet. Most of my climbing was with my son and my brother-in law. My climbing days are over, but I’m still drawn to the region to enjoy the majesty of the mountains, its intricate history and its gleaming waterways. These photos were taken a few weeks ago when we enjoyed a wonderful family reunion in the Saranac Lake area of the Adirondack State Park.

Public Auction of Folly Cove Estate Items & More – Sept 7, 6pm.

There will be a Public Auction of a Rockport MA, Folly Cove  Estate & other Cape Ann Estates, Saturday, September 7th, 1 Kondelin Rd. Gloucester, MA (in the Cape Ann Industrial Park) 6pm – Inspection is 4-6pm on the day of the sale.
Cape Ann Auction didn’t hold an auction in August, but it’s not because  they’re sitting around!  They’ve been very busy, here’s what they’re up to.
They’ve moved their entire operation and booked an auction for September 7th, next Saturday in their new auction hall at 1 Kondelin Rd. To give you an idea of what this will mean, they moved from a 1,500 square foot location at 17 Kondelin Rd. to this 10,000 square foot location!
In the past decade, they’ve run auctions at rented halls and at their own small hall 17 Kondelin Rd. During this time, they’ve warehoused many of their best finds for future auctions, hoping to feature them when they found a permanent, more suitable location. #1 Kondelin Rd. is just what they’ve needed to grow. They’ll sell many of these items and other estate contents such as the Rockport MA Estate in the September 7th auction next Saturday. This auction will feature Nautical antiques, Duck Decoys, Historical items and much more!
In the near future, Cape Ann Auction has so much stock, it will run about least every two weeks for a while. So look forward to 2 auctions a month instead of the regular 1 auction per month, at least for a while.
They also hope to run other special events related to the auction business at this location.
There’s plenty of parking and tons of treasures! To see pictures of items in the upcoming auction and get details on future events, go to www.capeannauction.com
