A handsome Little Blue Heron came within camera range recently. Shared the marsh area with an egret who preferred to social distance. It almost looks like he’s wearing a mask!

An almost normal kind of family beach activity we noticed recently at Pebble Beach. I was able to stay distanced and masked for a short conversation with this family. That’s Giorgio under the sand bed made by Dimitri and Leo. Dad (Matthew) overseeing the effot. They seemed glad to talk to me which is probably an indicator of how bored they have been!

My guy, the Number One Undisputed Vet In The Nation Ray Cahill with some sage advice on how to keep D.C. from tearing up the couch right here:

COVID UPDATE: We are open! Although our hours have temporarily shifted to 8a-4p Mon-Thurs and 7a-3p Fri. We are currently closed Saturdays. Also, we have switched to a “curbside” model where we have clients call the hospital when they arrive and are then given instructions on how to safely transport their pet to the designated area in the hospital for their exams, diagnostics and treatments. Many routine services and elective surgeries are currently not available because of the impact the pandemic has had. Please know that we are working our hardest to do the best we can and are prioritizing the most needy patients. We are immensely grateful for your patience and understanding during these trying times. Please stay well.
Visit the AVMA website here for more information for COVID-19 FAQs for pet owners.

Recently posted to the Thacher Island Facebook page:
The Thacher Island Association has made the difficult decision to close BOTH Straitsmouth and Thacher Islands to visitors for the 2020 season.
Kayaks and other types of watercraft will not be allowed to land, and visitors will not be permitted to explore the islands.
The Thacher and Straitsmouth launch service is being suspended for the entire season.
The 2020 Lighthouse Cruise has been cancelled.
The Thacher Island Association is already planning to welcome you back to the islands in 2021 and we hope to see you then. In the meantime, please enjoy the videos and historic photos on our website, and have a safe and healthy summer.
