Feb 1-2, 2021 Winter Storm Notifications and Updates

PARKING BAN

A snow emergency parking ban will be in effect beginning today at 2 PM,  Monday, February 1, and will remain in effect until further notice due to an upcoming winter storm expected to bring heavy wet snow, gusty winds and minor coastal flooding later today through tomorrow.

Parking is available at all municipal and school parking lots but it is at your own risk. Due to the possibility of minor coastal flooding parking will not be available in the lower lot at Gloucester High School.

The City of Gloucester will give residents ample notice when the parking ban is rescinded to allow for the removal of cars from off street parking areas before parking enforcement teams will begin ticketing and towing.

All residents and businesses are reminded that they are responsible for clearing snow from sidewalks adjacent to their property. Please make every effort to shovel out hydrants at, or, near your homes, and please check on your elderly and disabled.  Your cooperation during this parking ban is necessary for efficient and safe snow removal efforts.

TRASH AND RECYCLING COLLECTION

Trash will not be collected tomorrow, Tuesday, February 2. Trash collection will resume on Wednesday, February 3 and operate on a holiday schedule/one-day delay the rest of the week.

EMERGENCY ASSISTANCE

If you are in danger, call 911 for immediate assistance. Emergency teams are prepared to assist anyone in need so call 911 right away.  We remind all to take caution while traveling and to make safety your top priority.  Thank you for your assistance and please use 911 for any emergency needs. Stay safe!

POWER OUTAGES

National Grid has been preparing for power outages in different areas across the North Shore, including Gloucester. If any outages do occur in your area, it is imperative that they be reported via the National Grid Customer Service or Outage Reporting phone lines as listed below. Every outage phone call that we receive is logged into our outage tracking system and better enables us to pinpoint the location of the issue. The sooner National Grid can identify the location of the issue, the quicker a response can be sent.

  • The Customer Service Line is: 1-800-322-3223
  • The Outage Reporting Line is: 1-800-465-1212

Piggy Bank

Of all the things my boys received for Christmas….it was a very small and last minute gift that has suddenly been keeping them entertained. Who would have thought? They’ve been just a bit obsessed with filling their change counters and watching their bank add up. Suddenly random change stuck in the seat of the car or couch cushions are a bigger score.

Paint Factory Memories

A variety of views of our beloved Paint Manufactory taken over the years. Some older (probably 2004), some newer, some at sunset, some from across the harbor………always stunning. I just love this gem.

Free Streaming Nia and Restorative Yoga Classes via Zoom with Linda for the Week of Feb. 1st Nia Routine-Disney Songs Restorative Yoga Mon and Wed. 5 PM

Hot off the press, Disney Songs! I had a lot of fun finding new versions of most of these well known tunes. A few are the originals but most are new takes. I wanted to focus the routine on the hands and feet as these are the parts of the body we take the most for granted, until they are painful.

So join us and we’ll have fun singing and dancing to Disney Songs. Here’s a sneak preview of one of my favorite finds, an a cappella version of“I Wanna Be Like You”from the Jungle Book sung by DCappella.

For Restorative Yoga, find some cushions, large books, yoga blocks, blankets, whatever you can use instead of bolsters and blocks. We make it work. For more information on Restorative yoga, check out my site, niawithlinda.com. It is a lovely passive practice that gives the participant relaxation and calm. Who…

Apple Lands Gloucester Filmed ‘CODA’ In A $25 million Sundance Film Festival Record Deal

From Deadline:

CODA
‘CODA’Sundance Film Festival

In the first big deal of the 2021 virtual Sundance Film Festival, Apple has landed worldwide rights to CODA, for a number just north of $25 million. That sets a new a Sundance acquisitions record — above the $22.5 million that Palm Springs received last year from Hulu/Neon. But this time, all the premiere watching and all night auctioning was done far from the slopes of Park City. It came down to a pitched battle between Apple and Amazon.
