There aren’t too many engines that you would place a sandwich down on top of and then pick it back up to eat, but Matteo maintained his boat meticulously.

Since no one has attempted a guess at this week’s location, maybe a clue would help!

Last week’s winner was Janet (MacFeeley) Dunsky who identified the Island Rd., Essex photo. Congratulations, Jan! Enjoy your Dog Bar gift certificate! (And thanks again, Andy!)
Joey says to do another tough one, so here goes! This week’s prize is a $20 gift certificate from Lorre and David Anderson at the Black Swan on Main St. I love that store! There’s such a variety of cool stuff!
Good luck! —-Sharon

These little placards are now in most hotel room bathrooms. Wouldn’t you have way more respect for them if they just said we want to try to save labor cost and time by not having to wash your dirty towels instead of trying to play the “We care about the environment card”?

As someone who considers himself a travel information nut, I was surprised that I didn’t know anything about the new checked bag fee being charged by many airlines.
We flew American Airlines and it cost us $15 for each of us, each way for a total of $60 on top of the price of out airline tickets. To me that is completly ridiculous! There was no mention of it when I was booking my flights but people should be well aware that some airlines do not charge these fees and when comparing prices to decide which airline to fly take it into consideration.
The Wall Street Journal has a chart and story about it that you can read by clicking this text
Wall Street Journal Checked Bag Fee Chart, originally uploaded by captjoe06.So as of now Southwest and Jet Blue are the only ones not charging a fee for that first checked bag. Give em your business I say and remember when researching flights to add in the cost of those other airlines to get a true representation of the costs. Rat Bastards!

Yep, this is a real sign on a real Chinese food joint in South Beach.

There were countless stores along Washington Street and around South beach selling this type of club wear fashion. Certain young guys can pull it off in the right setting but to me 99.9 percent of the guys wearing clothes like this are tragic fashion victims. The kind of fashion victims like the guys in the eighties that wore parachute pants and had flock of seagull haircuts.
The absolute worst though is when you see forty year old white guys trying to pull this look off. Every time we would walk by one I’d squeeze The Mrs’ hand and she would know exactly what I was thinking- “Fashion Victim”
Note to all you guys out there- Flaps on the back of your jeans pockets and rhinestones=bad. Don’t be another victim.

See the guy standing on the roof? He looked like a character straight out of The Sopranos.

I don’t know what’s more disturbing, the tshirt or the look on the mannequin’s face, lol!
Can you imagine Janice having this set up in the window at The Cormorant Shop?

I was reading a book about the revitalization of South Beach and it said a big part of that revitalization was the widening of the sidewalks to accommodate the outdoor dining. The Block Parties last summer were a testament to how great a scene it was when we allowed the restaurants this ability.

$1795.00 FUCK Sunglasses, originally uploaded by captjoe06.
I saw these sunglasses in the window of a Lincoln Road shop so of course I had to pop in to take a pic for you guys.
Wel I had to look semi-interested in purchasing them so I asked the nice salesperson to take them out of the window so I could try them on.
It should be stated that even if these shades were $10 I wasn’t buying them. Not because they said FUCK, but because they were pretty gaudy even leaving the FUCK off of them.
But you know I wanted that pic so after trying them on I asked the nice girl how much they cost. She replied unflinchingly- “Seventeen ninety five.”
I wish I would have have asked her back “Lira?” or “Pennies?”
but I wasn’t quick enough. I had to know if she was serious and asked her if I heard her right that they cost $1795.00
She confirmed that yes they did indeed cost that much with a serious look on her face.
I just handed the FUCK sunglasses back thanking Christ that I didn’t break ’em.
Look for the video Saturday

it’s tough to get an idea of the scale of this sofa and chairs from this picture. I wish the Mrs was sitting in them so you could get an idea of hof massive they were.
This picture does not represent the proper light in the room but it really was beautiful in a funky eclectic sort of way.
