For those who don’t know Bob, he’s Gloucester’s City Clerk and all around good guy!

Rudder Reconstruction Update 1/27/09

Cool that they saved this to use in the reconstruction.

Union Congregational Church

This week’s Where’s Zat? photo was identified by Janet Dunsky, who lives in Magnolia and attended this church for years. The sign says “Established 1887”.

I found this old photo on the Internet, dated 1920’s or 1930’s.

Jan wins a $20 gift certificate from Gloucester Music. Congratulations! And thanks to Susan Emerson for the prize donation.

A Big Huge Round Of Applause!

I’ll tell you what, I couldn’t be prouder of Sharon for picking up the blog while I was off.   Everyone ought to give her a huge round of applause for doing such a great job.  Much thanks pardner!

It’s nice to be back and it was also nice knowing the blog was in good hands while I was off.

Where Zat? Winner!

Janet was the first one to identify the Union Congregational Church in Magnolia.  And then Dean got it. Good eye! I’ll post the full photo later today! Congrats Jan!

Where Zat? #10

Where Zat?

Last week’s winner Adam won a $20 gift certificate from Audrey’s Flower Shop when he identified the location as Walker Creek in West Gloucester. Nice job, Adam!

The prize this week is a $20 gift certificate from Susan Emerson at Gloucester Music on Main St. Great place to find just what you need in music. Many instruments, too! Thanks, Susan!

Hope this one’s tough enough, Joey!                      —–Sharon

Snoop Maddie Mad Enjoys The Breakfast Of Champions At The Lone Gull

A little quality time chillin out with Snoop Maddie Mad last week.

Fish Pier Rumble

If your squeamish about blood, guts, and warfare, don’t venture down to the State Fish Pier when the guys are mending their nets.  I witnessed head-butts, slaps, screaming. Two were dead. Eyeballs poked out. The cannibals devoured the innards. And not a cop in sight! Couldn’t show the victims – too gruesome  The perpetrators in action….

The Hermit of Ravenswood

hermit-of-ravenswoodBIRD CALLS PUNCTUATE THE AIR WHILE THE HUM OF A bee provides a soothing song. Only the train whistle permeates the serenity of Ravenswood Park, much the way it must have done for the “Hermit of Gloucester” a century ago. Mason Walton — the Hermit — hardly needed the distant reminder of another world. The world came to him……

It is Jeff Worthley!

You all got the right answer, so I guess I’ll have to make it more difficult next time! This was  “Rock The Vote” at Capt. Carlo’s in Nov. of 2005. Jeff was bangin’ on the keys, and that’s  Mike Chipperini on the harp in the background. Nice shirt, Jeff!

Timothy, prone to escaping his dismal high school reality through dazzling musical daydreams, gets cast by his eccentric teacher as Puck in his school’s production of Shakespeare’s “A Midsummer Night’s Dream.” He stumbles upon a recipe for a love potion hidden within the script, and uses it to turn almost everyone in his narrow-minded town gay. With vibrant imagery, a first-rate ensemble cast and innovative music rivaling the best of pop/ rock and contemporary Broadway, “Were The World Mine” attempts to push modern gay cinema and musical film beyond expectation.

“A rousing, warm-hearted spectacle.” -Stephen Farber, The Hollywood Reporter

Old Time Essex Photo

Nothing in this photo looks like it belongs in the 21st century. Actually it was taken in 2001. I was told that the truck is still on the road.
