The Brendels Representing in Zhodino

Well, Joey, here we are in the town of Zhodino, Belarus (former Soviet Union), where our ministry NewThing.net has “adopted” a shelter for abused & abandoned children. We’ve visited many times down through the years, but this time we told the children all about the wonderful place called Gloucester, and our “crazy friend Joey,” and the blog – and they were eager to represent!

Back from the Dominican

I spent my long weekend in the Dominican Republic to soak up some sun and warm weather. The overall experience was great, the people are very friendly and the beaches beautiful. After visiting I am thankful for everything I have and was a little homesick even after only 4 days.  Sorry Joey, I didn’t have any GMG stickers with me.

So Excited!

Yesterday I ordered a new Nikon d90. I have been so totally obsessed with getting a new camera, I’m driving everyone around me crazy. I even went to Hunt’s to check it out. I finally pushed the 1-click button at Amazon at 4:00. I haven’t sold the d70 yet, but it’ll happen. I feel like Joey when he got the new video camera. I sure hope it’s here by the weekend; I’m such a little kid when it comes to new toys! 🙂      —Sharon

Local Music for this Week Feb.15 – Feb. 21

Click on the picture to go to schedule.

When I started this music post, I was able to put a great deal of time into the gathering, editing, footwork that goes into a weekly update of Cape Ann’s music scene. Now I have 3 jobs, my Mom in a nursing home, and my photography getting more in demand. My good friend, Joanne Silva, has happily taken over the GMG Local Music posts for me.  She has created  “Blueslvr’s Blog” . In addition to the weekly schedule,  she has also included a growing list of links to bands and venues. If there is an ultimate music fan, Joanne is it. I appreciate her expertise and passion.

Please welcome Joanne to the GMG community. And if you have a music event you would like posted, you can leave your email address and message on the form below, and I will forward it to her.

Thanks!                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                      Sharon

Winter Doldrum Inspiration Please

Sitting here at the dock Paulie Frontiero came up with an idea for a post asking our loyal and fantastic readership what exactly would you like to see covered in these pages?

What subjects interest you the most when you come to GMG?  Or is it a combination of the diverse nature of our offerings that brings you back day after day?

Do you love the sports, the fishing industry, the art, The community event listings, the food?

Please leave a comment and help to direct us down a path which leads us to grow with the site and our community.

Thanks for your support.  Without your comments and participation it is difficult for our team to discern which directions we should delve deeper into to make GMG the best it can be.

Valentiners:There’s Still Time

Drive off the island and take the first exit to Nichol’s Candy House. Grab a number and let them fill a pound box of your favorite chocolates and you may be forgiven for being such a lout the rest of the year.

Nougat with cashews, milk chocolate with carmel and almonds, dark chocolate with caramel and nougat. And this isn’t store bought caramel and nougat. They make it in the next room.

Tucks of Rockport will always be my home for Salt Water Taffy but this Candy House might have to be my annual Valentine’s Day Stop. I can have two favorite candy shops.

Another tip from Joey pays off. I was number 18 today and it is going to get busy this afternoon so get on down there.
