Another Satisfied Customer

A disgruntled reader writes-

“Why do you have to use words like pimps and hos when your beautiful children’s pix are here…when your really lovely wife is on the site from time to time? I don’t understand. Pix of people on the john with trou down etc, etc, etc, mixed in with the BEST photos ever and your family….can’t you decide to be classy…or not….can gloucester ever decide to be classy or not? Doesn’t mean money, just means not being cheap”

Every so often I feel like I need to respond to emails like the one above from a very well intentioned woman whose name I obviously won’t post out of respect to her.

My response-
I’m sorry you feel that way. It’s not to take literally, they are jokes. Perhaps the type of crude humor that I and others sometimes use is not for you. Well actually it’s quite obvious it’s not for you.

But the blogs tag line from day one has been ” my view of life on the dock”

I swear, I cuss, I fart sometimes around my buddies and laugh about it. I also love my girls, appreciate art as well as rock and roll and certain rap songs.

I like the Rosa Rugosa that grows in the worst of conditions along our coastline and brings wonderful sights and smells despite growing in such terrible conditions.

I’m not sure what else to tell you but if you don’t appreciate it, there are other wonderful blogs that don’t get all salty at times like GMG.

Sorry if you don’t like all the parts of the blog but we won’t be changing our honest style and we also wont be taking ourselves too seriously.

Hope you have a wonderful evening-Joey

A few photos of Cape Ann Youth Lacrosse Players in action.

This is Cape Ann Youth Lacrosse’s 9th year, and it has been built on the principles of learning and sportsmanship, not competition and trophies. There are no standings kept, no league championship or playoffs.

We play all players as equally as possible with the goal of teaching the sport and providing a fun experience for all involved.

This year we have created an all girls lacrosse team at the U15 level, next season we will be expanding to include girls in the 1st to 8th grades.  All of our home games are played at  O’Maley School for the boys and Magnolia Woods for the girls.

If you would like more information about the program please visit our website at www.capeannyouthlacrosse.org.

and these are the paintings we did.  left 1,2,3:  Paul Frontiero.  center on clipboard:  Liz Bish.  next:  Debbie Clarke demo of a gesture painting reflecting my response to the color and feel of the morning. on right:  Tom Amend.  Last week painter Jeff Weaver stopped by and noted everyone was painting a different view.  This past Sunday we all faced the backlit hill with sun rising behind.  3/4 of the way through the class I introduced pthalo green into each of the students’ palette, showing them the cool/warm possibilities.

Liz wanted to know what I would do next to my painting.  Nothing.  maybe I will sign it.  The gesture is a completely different ‘scene’ than the one I started with.  When I started to paint I did not know what was interesting about what I was observing.  I made one spot of color against another.  between conversations with students I painted and then ‘wham’ the dark shape pressing down on the center of the picture plane against the house caught my eye.

it’s all about the “F” word!

Chill Out!

It’s not what you think.

I love Quotations. Here are a few on “FUN

“there are worse things in life than having fun”                                                  Bill Harris

“If you obey all the rules, you miss all the fun”  Katherine Hepburn

“When the fun goes out of play, most often so does the learning”.   Joanne E. Oppenheim

“Creativity is about play and a kind of willingness to go with your intuition. It’s crucial to an artist. If you know where you are going and what you are going to do, why do it? I think I learned that from the artists, from my grandmother, from all the creative people I’ve spent time with over the years”.         Frank O. Gehry

Anyone Wanna Buy My Camera?

I’m looking to once again upgrade.

I can honestly say that I LOVE LOVE LOVE this camera and have had ZERO problems with it during the past 8 months or so that I’ve owned it.  It is a Sony DSC H-20 and it sells for $250- $355 new on Google Shopping- you can see it here http://www.google.com/products?q=sony+dsc+h20+camera&hl=en&aq=0&oq=sony+dsc+h20 and that is without any extra accessories.  I’ll add in an extra battery along with the stuff that it originally came with and sell it for $175 with no negotiations.  The camera is worth every penny.

Here’s what the camera looks like-

So you know that this camera is in perfect working condition  these pics up to the HD video have been shot within the past few days-

Taken yesterday-

Taken May 3

hd video taken May 5th

This camera is perfect for anyone thinking about blogging or havinbg a camera that takes pictures as well as a larger camera but fits in your pocket easily.

I can’t say enough good things about it.

It also takes great photos in low light like these-

Jimmy T Writes- Bring Your Rain Jacket!

Putting In The Dories Saturday Morning-

Sounds like there is rain in the forecast for Saturday morning when we put the boats in. Please don’t let that dissuade you from helping for an hour or two. We are meeting at the dory storage tent, behind Eastern Ave Self Storage, 7 a.m. Saturday morning.

Some should bring rowing gear to row a boat from E. Gloucester to the Town Landing, anyone who has a trailer would be great, otherwise just bring your smiles and muscles!

There are still boats available for anyone who wants to row the Essex River Race, May 15th.

One more week to top the $2000.00 bid for the handline dory, then it will be sold.

Thank you.
