Tonight ~ SPECIAL MONDAY NIGHT OPEN JAM ~ 8-23-2010~ TO FEATURE MEMBERS OF TREY ANASTASIO BAND

SPECIAL MONDAY NIGHT OPEN JAM TO FEATURE MEMBERS OF TREY ANASTASIO BAND

On Monday, August 23 Russ Lawton and Ray Paczkowski from the Trey Anastasio Band (the guitarist from Phish) will join host Dan King at The Rhumbline in Gloucester for a special Monday Night Open Jam. Paczkowski is originally from Chatham Mass. and Lawton lived in Salem for many years before moving to Vermont to concentrate on his local collaborations. He hosted a multitude of popular open mics and jams in the North Shore and has played in the Boston area for many years (Hard Rock Cafe, the Orpheum…) through his years there and has collaborated with King often, live and in the studio.

The infamous Open Jam is celebrating 15 years this August and will feature a full set by Russ and Ray’s new duo, Soule Monde (Lawton, the drummer and Paczkowski, the keyboardist of the Trey Anastasio Band and Classic TAB).Other special guests will include the Bandit King’s Dennis Monagle, Joe Cardoza, Renee Dupuis, and Ann Marie Shimanoski, as well as Brian O’Connor of Groove, Sebastian Moceri of UFO and many more!

Lawton and Paczkowski are members of Trey Anastasio’s solo band and Lawton also tours with Vermont band, Strangefolk. Between them, Russ Lawton and Ray Paczkowski have backed up the likes of Santana, Dave Matthews, Steve Earle, Los Lobos, and countless others over their celebrated careers. They have played Bonaroo. Austin City Limits, All Points West, and Red Rocks, to name just a few. Lawton and Paczkowski are pleased to bring this wealth of music experience back to the North Shore, to the Rhumbline in particular, and to the longest running jam in Cape Ann history!

The Monday, August 23 show will be a special live event, not an Open Jam. However, usually The Open Jam is a weekly session where local musicians may sign up and sing or play with a full or partial band. This is any local (and not so local) musician’s  best opportunity to showcase their talent in front of an encouraging, excited audience. PA, mics, drum kit and some instruments provided. Featuring a stellar house-band comprised of Dan King, Dennis Monagle, and Joe Cardoza. Mondays in August.Monday, August 23 at The Rhumbline.  41 Railroad Ave., Gloucester, MA; 9:30pm, no cover.

Kristen Michel Found A Lost Ring

Hi Joey –

Great seeing you and Ed the other night at the block party!

I am writing to see if you can help . . . .

A co-worker found a man’s wedding ring when she was walking in the Blackburn Industrial Park in the Great Replublic Drive area.

I have it in safe keeping and would like for it to be reunited with its owner.  Can you help?

Kristin

It’s Back! Where Zat?

After a long break, Where Zat? is back! Every Monday at 9:00 am, there will be a new contest. The photos are a bit of Cape Ann – sometimes very easy to identify and then the bigger challenges! But it’s always fun, and often there are prizes donated by a GMG reader or contributor.

Here is this week’s Where’s Zat?

Good luck!!

“Good Morning”

Do you normally great people in the morning with a hearty “Good Morning”?

It puts everyone in a great mood and is a nice starting point for any conversation but sometimes I’m mystified at how difficult it seems for some people to utter the words.

Think about it this morning when you’re out and about and what image you are projecting.  You can usually disarm the most cynical miserable people that you’ll meet throughout the day with a warm smile and a hearty hello!

Clean Harbor Swimmers – Slide Shows

I created two slide shows because of all the swimmers.  There was 117 swimmers, hopefully I captured all of them during the “Count”, a safety precaution, same number of swimmers that go into the water must come out and be counted.
