The Craftsman brand of tools has an online channel featuring a show with host Frank Fontana (formerly of HGTV’s Design on a Dime) in which he discusses DIY Disasters. His producer found my blog and asked me to be on Frank’s show for a brief segment. I mostly rambled about nothing but I did go on and on about how great Rockport’s transfer station is. I don’t know if the DPW guys would be excited about yet another advertisement for Rockport’s Swap Shop but it’s hard to talk about great finds, etc. and not bring up the dump. The clip from the show is found below. Oh, and before my interview, George Takei from Star Trek (?) and Kathy Ireland the model (??) are on, so if you might want to check out the whole show to hear their interviews. The part where I come in (and Rockport) is at the 44 minute mark.

Brute force string recovery @ Alchemy
Chelsea Berry broke two strings last night at Alchemy. Â That’s unusual for her — she must have been excited by the packed house.
In this video, her good friend Megan Burtt’s brute force helps Chelsea recover and continue the song.
Also notice how they tease Andrew & Clayton. Â A splendid time was had by all!
Lots to do tonight: folk, rock, blues, DJ Dancing and open mic. Â See full lineup here.

I’m Looking for used bluefin tuna monofilament‏
From Adam Bolonsky:
Does anyone on the waterfront have 600′ to 800′ of used tuna mono or swordfish line they need to get rid of?
I’m working with the
Thachers Island Association and the National Fish and Wildlife Service to suspend a videocamera from the catwalk of the 102′ north lighthouse tower at Thachers, and need the line to raise and lower the camera.
Vids get submitted to GMG, of course!
Ed Collard is already on board. He made a mount for the camera. Now w need non-braided, non-stretch line to raise and lower the video camera.
No-braid line is the key: otherwise the camera will vibrate excessively.
Contact me through GMG or via email
Thanks, Adam

Closets Playing At The Gorton Theater!
Hi Joey-
Be sure not to miss Closets, a brand new comedy that is playing at The Gorton Theater this week and next. It’s a perfect commentary in our times, about selfish people, grabby, greedy types who finally get what they deserve. In fact the stage managers are complaining that the show is so funny they can’t help laughing, and it makes their job harder. And at every rehearsal, they keep finding new places to laugh!
This is the type of show that ought to end up on Broadway, and maybe will. So save a bundle, and see it here first. Also, the author will be in town this week, so you can get his perspective on the script and the CAST production of Closets when you come to see it..
Better leave the kids at home. This is truly an adult comedy. Closets plays from Thursday, March 8 through Sunday, March 18. Check the CAST blog for details.
Thanks for spreading the word.

Pet Peeve # 21
Right around number 21 of my biggest pet peeves is when you order a bagel to go and order it with butter or cream cheese and the jointg doeswnt spread it on for you.
Is it really that hard to have the tub of butter or cream cheese and smear it on for me in two swoops rather than make me open an individual package in the car and fumble around with a flimsy knife and get the crumbs all over the car.
You take a process that should take the server all of 3 seconds and turn it into a minute long awkward process.
Perhaps it doesn’t annoy others but it’s one of mine.
What are some little things that bug the hell out of you.
(and I’ll preemptively write out Paulie Walnuts pet peeve-
I hate it when Joey whines about little annoyances)

Timeless
Do You Know? (If April Showers Bring May Flowers)
“You think that it is a safe place to hide – But I’ve already been there”
Lyrics like that are why this song will be a HIT. Â Then there’s the haunting melody, full of gorgeous melismas, sung perfectly by rising star Megan Burtt, who’s visiting her friend Chelsea Berry in Gloucester this week.
You can see the two of them at Alchemy tonight at 7pm. Â Might be your last chance to catch this Denver native for a while, unless you want to follow her on tour — see dates here.
If you can’t get in to Alchemy, there’s other great music in town (see full lineup here).  And you late-nighters can see Dennis Monagle hosting The Dejas starting at 9pm at Minglewood.

At Transform Fitness Studio in Essex Ma, 30 of us rode a three hour marathon spin along with many other clubs in New England. We raised $4000 and all together $265,000 was raised to find a cure and create more birthdays.
