The Little Theater, Rocky Neck

In view of Rocky Neck going into the winter mode, I thought I'd post a few photos this week. This is "The Little Theater and Community Drama School (CDS) and the Boston School of Public Speaking" on Rocky Neck. It was run by Ms. Cunningham.

When Does it Stop?

This young woman, 26 years old, was run down by a truck while bicycle training in Belgium a few days ago. She was engaged to be married and was here last weekend competing in our Cyclocross races at Stage Fort Park. We all probably saw her. You think maybe something has to change? She's from Jericho, Vermont, USA. She came in # 8. Suggestions? Oops! Just this moment, a local merchant came in and told be about Gloucester's Terry Greel, who was riding a bike and was hit by a car. It ruined his summer. He also said that he (the merchant) had 3 incidents involving cell phone/distracted drivers on his drive to work today. Chief Lenard Campanello, can you help us out there. This concerns pedestrians, bicycle riders, and automobile drivers. She is dead, and our Terry, husband of Tina, was injured.

Fish On Fridays

The Fish on Fridays series is a collaboration between Gloucester photographers Kathy Chapman and Marty Luster. Look for various aspects of Gloucester’s centuries-old fishing industry highlighted here on Fridays.

This week Kathy visited Steve Connolly Seafoods’ Boston processing plant and talked with seafood buyer Robert Chandler as Alberto Santos shows us how a swordfish is boned out. Chandler says this is the best time of the year for swordfish steaks because the fish are fattening up now, for their swim to the Caribbean, where they over winter. Higher fat content makes for a better taste. And, the summer shacks are closed for the season, pushing prices down.

Last summer the sword boat Iron Lady (pictured) was repainted at the Gloucester Marine Railway. Although Gloucester no longer hosts a swordfish fleet, sword fishing still takes place on longliners out of Boston and New Bedford.

Hey Joey
From what i hear the driver of this suv got there flip flop entangled
with the gas peddle causing the peddle to stick, sending the suv into
Jones creek off the Annisquam river. The driver swam back to the pier

Breaking news

GLOUCESTER, Mass. —A stuck flip-flop may be responsible for causing a vehicle to plunge into the water off the Stone Pier in Gloucester Friday.

Sky 5 showed the vehicle approximately 15 to 20 feet from the pier, in a shallow area of the river.

According to the Gloucester Fire dispatcher, the vehicle accelerated into the water after a flip-flop got stuck under the gas pedal.

The two men inside the vehicle escaped without injury.

The harbormaster was at the scene to help get the vehicle out of the water.

Breaking News – Porn Star Ron Jeremy at Liquor Locker Now

ron jeremy porn star

Ronald Jeremy Hyatt (born March 12, 1953) known by the stage name Ron Jeremy, is an American adult film actor. Nicknamed “The Hedgehog”,[1] he was ranked by AVN at number one in their “The 50 Top Porn Stars of All Time” list.[4] Jeremy has also appeared in non-pornographic films, such as The Chase, Orgazmo, They Bite, The Boondock Saints, Crank: High Voltage, Poultrygeist: Night of the Chicken Dead, Detroit Rock City and 54.

Jeremy is involved in the marketing of a line of rum “Ron de Jeremy” to which he lent his name, “ron” being Spanish for “rum”. Television ads for the rum, featuring Jeremy himself, proclaim that it’s rum, “Ron Style”‘.  If you were thinking of going to Liquor Locker to pick up something today, you will find a madhouse of woman having parts of their bodies autographed by Jeremy.

I didn’t see this myself, fellow artist Sue Handman just came back from Liquor Locker and gave the report, which I just had to pass on.

AMVETS and Operation Troop Support Experience

I bought three raffle tickets, and didn't win anything, never do, but that's not the point, is it? Operation Troop Support, for our men and women overseas. https://www.facebook.com/AMVETSLadiesAuxiliaryPost32 http://www.facebook.com/jalapenosmexrestaurant

Yesterday, while walking down Main Street to see what the police activity was, I saw Barbara, a woman who worked for many years at Bookends, where Dogtown Books is now. She was hurrying to the same emergency scene, because her daughter works nearby. She invited me to the AmVets fundraiser next door at Jalapenos that night. Once there, I saw Barbara's mother, Donna Hand, who was a bartender at "The Rigger" for many years before Jalapenos, which was next door to my gallery. Also volunteering was City Councilor Melissa Cox, who's running for office again and is everywhere as a volunteer. L–R: Donna Hand, Melissa Cox, and Barbara, all there for the AmVets 32 Auxiliary. Donna's son and Barbara's brother, is a Black Hawk helicopter pilot. God Bless and we can't tell you where he is, because even we don't know.

Lawrence Peter Berra Quote of The Week From Greg Bover

October 3, 2013

“You wouldn’t have won if we’d beaten you.”

Lawrence Peter Berra  (1925-    )

image

Yogi Berra was one of the greatest catchers of all time, even if he was a Yankee. The three-time MVP appeared in the World Series as a player, coach, or manager 21 times, and managed World Series winners in both leagues. At the plate he was a fine clutch hitter, in five seasons he had more home runs than strikeouts. He was an All-Star fifteen times and was elected to the Hall of Fame in 1972. Because of his extraordinary gift for malapropism and tautology with a thought-provoking twist, he is often the target of misattribution, which prompted his 1998 book, I Didn’t Really Say Everything I Said. One of my other favorite Yogi-isms, said of a restaurant he liked, “Nobody goes there anymore, it’s too crowded.”

Great line up. I have seen so many musicians that I have never heard of at these events and some that I have heard often, as well.  It has certainly been a most enjoyable time. Not to mention  the delicious food and deserts. Looking forward to many more.

Tonight at the The Rhumb Line ~ Thursday Night Blues Party with Dave Sag’s to host Steve Sadler and so much more. Put on your dancing shoes!

dave bw

It’s shootout at the Ofay Corral this week as we pit the commodious Mr. Steve Sadler against the lowball slider, Mr. Jim Scoppa. Both massive guitarists who’ve paid their dues with the likes of guys like Tom Hambridge and and Michael Coombs, we’re sure to see phlogiston exuding from every pore. Steve, with his artery-clogging style is a local favorite and everybody’s first call for fiddle, mandolin and lapp steel, but  tonite it’s full bore with the electrical glitar. Jim, the gas giant,is big on the Eric Clapton school of channeling dead blues echoes. Our tail gunner is none other than that happy-go-lucky steam engine: Mr. Forrest “Frosty” Padgett, one of my favorite defibrillators. National Grid  will be standing by with  bucket trucks and spare 6L6GC tubes, ready for the blown fuse. I’ve actually been forced to learn some new songs.
And, don’t forget: we’re nothing without you, the viewer. Live music is best! Hours still 8:30 to 11:30.
