Just In From Gina Lampassi- Womens Seine Boat Race Eliminations To Be Held This Sunday at 1PM

Hey Joey,
Not only are the Dory races this weekend but the elimination races for the Women’s Seine Boat Race will be this Sunday instead of the usual Wed of Fiesta. I’m wondering if you can post something b/c this is new and it would be great if people come down to support the women.
Thanks,
Gina

The race starts at 1 on Sunday. First 2 teams will be tying in at St. Peters before the race. Dory Races start at 10 today.

Ambie “The Lobsterman”

Ambie is still making deliveries; however now it is lobsters he traps, on his boat “The Valerie Dawn”.

Ambie will still provide the best Italian Sausage during Fiesta.

Incredible Black and White Saint Peter’s Fiesta Altars 1939 and ??? From Hilary McKinnon

Hilary writes-

These were probably taken by my mother’s side of the family Vigrinia Frontiero (nee Piscatello) daughter of Michael and Mary Frontiero the larger one may be by her as she always had a camera glued to her hand and the one from ’39 I couldn’t say I don’t think she’s quite that old and won’t tell me anyways. She lived on Gould court most all of her life until she got married in ’53 and I came along in ’54. My bedroom widow faced the church, that we were forbidden to enter but I saw it about 3 years ago during a my granddaughter’s christening. On your video of the Sargent house you can see it off to the left on the opening shot, although you mentioned it being a stones throw away. Great video, another place they never let me in, steps like that can be seen at the library too I think.

Crazy Fiesta Hat Ladies go to the Lowell Folk Festival

Amy Clayton writes-

Hey Joey,

My sister Robyn and I just came from a weekend at the Lowell Folk Festival sharing our crazy Fiesta hats. We were invited by the curator of festival. The theme of the festival was from head to toe and we were honored to be invited. But we couldn’t just go with our hats and expect people to understand what we do, so we had to bring St.Peter’s Fiesta with us…lol. We brought with us a 5ft statue of St. Peter ( my sister made) a wooden cut out of St.Peter that people could take pictures with and many pictures on foam board of the different aspects of the fiesta. I handed out over 350 Gloucester visitor guides and St.Peter pins. We had so much fun and people were in awe of our community celebration and of course the hats.

I am emailing you this to see if you could share this with GMG viewers, I wish I had thought of it before we went, a press release was sent to the newspaper but they nothing went in. So I was thinking you could let people know about our great opportunity to share our great community with people from all over.

Here is the website that had a write up about us…. http://www.lowellfolkfestival.org/crafts.html, and I included some pictures.

WCVB Channel 5 Chronicle Gloucester Episode

As many are aware, tonight at 7:30, WCVB Channel 5 Chronicle is airing an episode featuring Gloucester. This is in and of itself is fantastic; they also borrowed a bit my footage from my Greasy Pole Sunday film that I created for Good Morning Gloucester.

Special thanks are owed Joey for making Good Morning Gloucester the ‘go to place’ for people like Maggie Harper, the producer of Chronicle, to discover more about what makes the heart of our community beat. During the entire week of Fiesta, then followed by Independence Day events, GMG covered all, posting countless feature stories, schedule of events, photos, and videos.

Thank you Joey C for all you do for our fair city!

As Gloucester’s Powerhouse of Positivity would say ~ YEAH BABY! Chronicle Tonight! Boom! We Got That!
