In my humble opinion this show is going to off the wall.
A few words from Gloucester’s own Bandit Kings.
Hola Banditos!
A spot of news for all of yous…
THE BANDIT KINGS WILL PLAY LIVE AT PRECINCT IN SOMERVILLE TONIGHT — FOLLOWED BY THE ONE AND ONLY, ANDREA GILLIS
On Saturday, April 7 The Bandit Kings and Andrea Gillis will descend on Somerville like a rock ‘n’ roll hurricane and, more specifically, on the Precinct stage for the night. Doors at 8pm. These Bandit Kings first, followed by the extraordinary Ms. Gillis.
Miranda Russell at Shalin Liu last night with surprise guest Inge Berge on guitar (L-R: John Hyde, Joe Kessler, Miranda Russell, Vincent Briguglio, Inge Berge, Leo Ciaramitaro)
Justin Piper’s wife was in labor so Miranda called Inge at about 4pm to ask if he could sit in. Â Inge was excellent with some great solos, which proves just how versatile he is (in case anyone ever doubted). Â See Inge’s new hit video here. Â Very different style indeed!
For the rest of you, there are plenty of other choices tonight (full music lineup here). Â Our good friend Allen Estes will be with Dan King & Friends at Cape Ann Brewery starting at 9pm. Â He’s just finished a new song. Â Ask him to play it.

Hey Joey, Brad Byrd here… just wanted to catch up w/u (hopefully you’ll see this email) and say thanks for coming out to Lat 43 on St Patty’s Day and being a part of the video shoot. The video is almost finished and I’m excited to show you and Gloucester/Cape Ann. I also wanted to personally thank you for including/featuring me in your GMG blogs over the last couple months or so. Congrats again on all the blogs success!
That said, I wanted to let you and your readers know that we will be doing another video for another song off my new album on May 5th at Lat 43 again. This time w/my full band. It’s going to be a big night. I’m also playing every Thursday night from 8-11pm at Giuseppe’s solo for the month of April.

Our friend Jen Amero is organizing a Zombie Pub Crawl with teams, which sounds like a blast. Â Here’s what she says:
The first 6 people on each crawl team get $25 each drinking money. We will meet at Amesbury Sports Park so that one person from each team can be made up as a zombie – if you cannot make it to ASP, we will meet in town at 8pm at Jalapenos for our first drink. There will be a designated driver from ASP to Gloucester.
Then, in order we will visit Cape Ann Brewing, Dogbar and end at Minglewood. Anyone wanting to be part of the first paid core team (and get the $25pp drinking money) should email jamero@amesburysportspark.net or call me 978-325-0606. Â
There are only 2 spaces left for paid crawler. Otherwise, folks can just join us on their own dime as we roll from venue to venue.
Now, if you’re not inclined to zombies, you might check out last week’s gimmesound artist of the week, Miranda Russell at Shalin Liu tomorrow.
And tonight you’ve got 7 great music choices starting at 6:30. Â No matter what you like you’ll find it on Cape Ann tonight! Â See full music lineup here.

The Golden Shower Retirement Center is proud to present that rambunctious rascal of rhythm: Mr. Ricky “King” Russell, master of mayhem and boffo guttersnipe to our stage this week. Last time he was here Fred had to increase insurance coverage on the place. Ricky’s quite a guy, both musically and forensically, and we’re not looking forward to some major surgery when this blows over.
He’ll be conjoined with one of our favorite dribblers: “Mr. Ed” Scheer, not to be confused with Wilbur’s inamorata. He drums, he sings, and he steals all my songs! Thank Gawd!
As usual Mr. Greg T. and his catarrh and myself on basso profundo will round off the proceedings to the nearest inch of your life. So, plan on coming out and getting your brain emulsified. Lifetime guarantee!
Watch the video and find out. Â Miranda also talks about some new music you’ll hear at her concert this week. Â There are still tickets left for Miranda’s Thursday show. Â Get them here.
It’s a new month with new music this week on Cape Ann. Â Check out the full music lineup here.

There seems to have been some confusion on the correct date of this concert. It is as follows.
Wednesday, April 4 @ 7 PM.
Annalivia’s unique sound features twin fiddles, strong vocals, driving guitar, mandolin, clawhammer banjo and double bass. The band grew out of the potent Boston traditional music scene which has yielded many cutting-edge Celtic, bluegrass, Old Time, jazz, and everything-in-between bands. Annalivia is unique in that the band members have strong backgrounds in both American and Celtic styles. The members of Annalivia also contribute their own original material– instrumentals played on fiddles, guitar, mandolin, and banjo, and songs written by lead singer Liz Simmons and guitarist Flynn Cohen.
The members of Annalivia are Liz Simmons, Flynn Cohen, Emerald Rae, and Stuart Kenney, and this show will feature special guest Ivonne Hernandez standing in for Mariel Vandersteel. All are virtuosic on their instruments and have long histories with traditional music, ranging from bluegrass to Irish, Scottish, Cape Breton and Old Time. These styles play a large role in the interpretations of their material which includes inventive, quirky fiddle tunes and lushly arranged songs. Their unique style has an Americana flavor, yet with the detail, precision and energy of their bluegrass and Celtic backgrounds.
About 10 years ago, she and her collaborator (who, in addition to arranging and producing performs on guitar, percussion, whistle, piano and backing vocals) released a beautiful lullaby collection CD (listen to one of those lullabies here). Â This is not your usual lullaby CD for baby only. Â The excellent musicianship, harmonies and arrangements will captivate an adult audience as well — and it might just instill good musical taste in your little one.
Plenty of music to choose from tonight. Â If YOU want to be the DJ, bob on down to Minglewood at 9pm and choose a song. Â See full music lineup here.

How many times have you gone to see a musician that has a library of 20-40 incredible classic songs, pay huge money for the tickets and then endure over half the songs off the new album they just put out with songs you’d never heard of?
You’re standing in the audience expecting to hear Rosalita and Badlands and three or four songs in a row go by and there isn’t a single song you recognize.
Before everyone jumps down my throat, I completely understand the need to grow as an artist and explore and create new stuff so you can satisfy your own desire to create. I get that. When I feel like the blog has been stagnant and we haven’t come up with new ideas in a while I get extremely irritable and it’s when we break new ground or stories that I feel most satisfied with the work we’re doing.
But what I’m talking about is strictly from the consumer’s standpoint.
Would you as a consumer be willing to pay double for a ticket to a classic band if they promised a complete show of pure top number one hits and nothing new?
Because I rarely go to concerts any more, I would.
Wouldn’t it be great if say Springsteen alternated years where one year he does the classics tour and then the following year he plays a mix of classics and new stuff?
