This just in from Chris Langathianos (Chelsea Berry’s manager)
Regrettably, the coming storm has made it necessary to cancel both the Friday and Saturday Chelsea Berry concerts at the Shalin Liu Performance Center. The shows have been rescheduled for Friday and Saturday, March 1st and 2nd and tickets will be honored for those performances. If you are unable to attend those shows, Rockport Music will issue refunds on previously purchased tickets.
And this from Shalin Liu’s Karen Herlitz, Director of Marketing at Rockport Music:

Here’s what they didn’t say: There were still tickets left to the Chelsea’s Friday show, so that probably means you could still get tickets to one of these shows in March. If you don’t have tickets yet, I say call up and get them now before everybody else figures this out (remember, you heard it on GMG FIRST!)
If you’re not sure about whether or not you want to go, watch this video from her new CD:

It’s always a treat to hear a virtuoso live. Get tickets for this show now.
The Old Sloop Coffeehouse is one of those gems run by people who know and appreciate good music. You can trust that every performance will be top notch even if you’ve never heard of the musician before.
Tonight will be a perfect party night ahead of the big storm, with plenty of live music to choose from. See the full live music lineup here.
You heard it on GMG First!
The Mardi Gras YMCA Benefit Concert with Henri Smith featuring Charles Neville originally scheduled for tomorrow, Friday, February 8 has been rescheduled to Saturday, April 6, 2013. All tickets and VIP Packages purchased for the Friday, February 8 concert will be honored on Saturday, April 6th.
There are still VIP and General Admission Seats available but they will likely sell out. Get your ticket now and enjoy the winter wonderland, tomorrow.
The queen of breakup songs nails it with this inspiring, honest, uplifting love song that celebrates a true, working relationship. My Heart is only one of 10 excellent songs on Chelsea’s stellar new album Devil and the Deep Blue Sea (get it here), officially released last night at a packed, upbeat party at Shea’s Riverside in Essex. Aren’t you glad you have tickets to see her at Shalin Liu this weekend? (More Chelsea Berry Videos here.)
Now get out there tonight and enjoy all the great live music before the storm hits. See the complete live music schedule here.
Dave says,
The Bluesland Security Dept. is proud to present my favorite of all black and blue units, the “3 Stooges” to the fragrant meadow of our stage this coming Thursday. Led by Ricky “King” Russell on gootar and vogelsang, and chased down by the likes of that cutie-pie saxist and storyteller, Mr. Mario Perrett and eminent musical frontman and drummbler, Dr. Edd “Duodenum” Scheer. We have 4 singers, 20 fingers, and a lifetime of groovy tunes to dig into. Everytime these kats come, it takes me days to stop laughing.
Come see us approximate human behavior and watch the fur fly!
And, don’t forget about the free shows at the Rose Baker Senior Center the first 3 Mondays of every month. The Good Old Salty Jazz Band holds sway from 1 to 3 pm, god willing, playing all your favorite songs from the years 1900 till now.Don’t wait for my memorial service, do it now, while I still remember who you are!

Do you have yours yet? I got mine. Chelsea Berry’s Cd party was a big success last night at Shea’s Restaurant and Bar. It was packed and when I arrived the band was singing. It appeared that everyone was having a great time. Chelsea was as friendly as ever and shared her love all around.
So far I’ve listened to the Devil and the Deep Blue Sea twice. It’s very well done. I tend to lean more toward the rocker side of music but “Hard Times” gets me good, slow, serious and about a sad abusive relationship. “My Heart” is a catchy tune, fun and makes you want to get up and dance. “Dangerous High” is a nice piece of communication and a rock out song. “Devil and The Deep Blue Sea” tells yet another story about Chelsea’s feelings with her brother being away in the service. The rest you have to hear for yourself, seriously.
Chelsea and her band did a fantastic job. I highly recommend the CD it’s a hit!
One more thing. There were people sporting their new Chelsea Berry tee shirts, They were black with Chelsea’s name and an outline of guitar in turquoise. Very nice!
Chelsea was indeed all smiles last night.
Chelsea and Michael ended the evening with “Blues House” A Chelsea Berry original.
Don’t forget Saturdays show at the Shalin Liu is sold out and there are still some tickets available for Friday night.

In fact there’s enough music over the next few nights that it’s gonna be hard to choose where to go out this week. Here’s the complete live music lineup to help you figure it out.
And here are some videos too . . .

(For those of you who have just tuned in, “LOL” stands for Law of Life. Click here to see the first 11.)
Everybody’s looking for somebody to blame — especially for last night. First there’s the power outage. Even though the official line still makes vague reference to an “abnormality”, you can bet people are scrambling to nail somebody’s ass — or “hold them accountable” to use the latest PC term.
Then there’s Beyoncé. Joey may have liked her lip-synched dance numbers, but Vickie and I have to agree with venerable music curmudgeon, Bob Lefsetz, who said, “I wasn’t sure what to do after Beyonce’s appearance, join a gym or masturbate.” (We know Joey’s done the former. What about the latter, Joey?)
Lefsetz tries to blame Madonna, CDs, Hip Hop (read his full tirade here) and he lauds Prince, Adele, Mumford & Sons and The Lumineers. (Joey likes The Lumineers too. See this post. Their show tonight at House of Blues — yup, across the bridge — is sold out.)
Singers love to lay blame. Usually they blame somebody else, like when Beyoncé admonishes “you should have put a ring on it.” Once in a while somebody writes a great song blaming himself. Of those, my favorite is Guilty by Randy Newman, sung here perfectly by Bonnie Raitt.
You’ll be blaming yourself big time if you don’t get VIP tickets to see Henri Smith featuring Charles Neville this Friday. It’s the best dinner / show / Mardi Gras party deal around. Best of all, you can avoid feeling guilty because you’ll be helping to send local YMCA Teens on their service-learning trip to New Orleans in April. Oh, and Henri won’t be lip-synching.
The older I get the more I realize that casting blame feels good, but doesn’t accomplish much — sort of like masturbating.
Blame is best left to songs. Chelsea Berry knows how to write a great song that lays blame. And you can bet she won’t lip-synch when she sings it at her Shalin Liu concerts.
Tuesday – 7:00pm until 10:00pm
Please join us to celebrate the release of Chelsea Berry’s newest full length album, “Devil and the Deep Blue Sea”.
The new record is “energetic and wild and has its moments of epic orchestration while the lyrics send the message of the story of human struggle and love and loss and all that stuff I love to write about and people can relate to.
I am really excited about this album because it’s going to be a whole new side of the music- and a whole new side of me. Growing and changing and not being afraid to leave it all out there– without losing that familiarity and approachability that’s so central to me as a performer.”
The CD will be available for purchase and there may even be a couple of impromptu performances.
Also, on Friday and Saturday, Febraury 8th and 9th, Chelsea and her spectacular group of players will perform at The Shalin Liu Performance Center. There are still some tickets left for Friday night’s performance. Don’t miss it!

As you can see in the picture, when Aurelia Nelson and Henri Smith get together everybody has fun.
Aurelia decided to reprise last week’s Curtain Up again tomorrow SUN at 9am. Don’t miss it this time. Set your alarm and tune into 104.9FM.
Then at 6pm you can catch the very first Local Music Seen with Allen Estes show filmed on location.

Last Mardi Gras (2/21/12) after a brief studio intro, we took the cameras and crew to Minglewood Tavern to film Henri Smith’s excellent band featuring Charles Neville at a Mardi Gras fundraiser for the Y Teens Rebuild New Orleans trip. The result is a high energy concert and interview with Henri Smith and Charles Neville in Latitude 43’s super comfy lounge area. This special show airs tomorrow (SUN) at 6pm on Cape Ann TV Channel 12 and again WED 2/6 at 6:30pm

For Mardi Gras 2013, Henri Smith and his band featuring Charles Neville will perform their Y Benefit concert at the historic Larcom Theatre in Beverly this Friday, February 8th at 7:30pm. Tickets are selling fast, so get yours here. Plus, there’s a great VIP Package, including premium reserved seating in the first 5 rows, exclusive pre-show Mardi Gras party with a Cajun inspired buffet by Chianti’s of Beverly, meet & greet with the performers and more (see details here). VIP Tickets are limited. Get them here.
But don’t wait for next weekend. There’s plenty of live music this weekend and much of it starts early enough to bring the kids. See the full live music lineup here.
