Daily Harvest Cafe Bill

I was surprised that the joint wasn’t a chain because it was very refined with slick signage and menus.  Iasked and teh gal told me that that location was the only one.  Very similar in styling to Panera. or I guess I’d say very similar type of menu.   Good fresh food at reasonable prices.  Designed for quick in and out with counter ordering.  Another interesting feature were the flat screen tvs around with headphones playing cartoons, obviously for children.  It worked as we got through our lunch without any major meltdowns.  There was about 4 mothers with small children there while we were.

Thai Chicken Wrap From the Daily Harvest Cafe

This is my thai chicken wrap.  I was disapointed.  It was ddecent sized but the flavor was a bit bland.  When I think Thai I want flavor.  The Thai wrap at Au Bon Pan is fantastic.  I may have been comparing it to the Au Bon Pan version but I was unimpressed.  The salads I saw on other tables looked really fresh.  I think I just ordered the wrong thing and would go back if I was in the area.

Daily Harvest Cafe Reuben Sandwich

After going to BJs yesterday for diapers and wipes for Snoop Mad, we went to the Daily Harvest Cafe in Danvers next to where MVP sports used to be.  The Mrs heard good things about it and had been wanting to try it.  Here is her Reuben sandwich for $7.49   It was pretty good, the best part about it was that the bread held up as it was toasted and didnt get all soggy.

Seagull Poop For Evelyn

Seeing as Evelyn likes the Seagull Poop Pics so much I thought I’d toss another one her way.  This is what herring looks like after it has been digested and pooped out of the seagul’s ass.  Anyone up for some over easy eggs?

If you click the picture and select “all sizes” you can see any of the pictures here in full size and greater detail.

The deck at The Rudder is IMO the best places in town to bring guests for dinner on a warm summer night.

Antonio’s New Bedford Feijoada

My buddy Toby brought this traditional Brazilian/Portuguese dish down the dock for lunch yesterday.  He travels to New Bedford to get it because it’s that good.

The Mrs’ Gorgonzola Stuffed Pear Recipe

After at least five desperate pleas The Mrs came through-

From The Mrs-

Joe,
Pear recipe attached, please give credit to my friend the Barefoot Contessa.

3 ripe Anjou pears
Freshly squeezed lemon
3 ozs coarsely crumbled blue cheese
1/4 cup dried cranberries
1/4 cup walnut halves toasted and chopped
1/2 cup apple cider
3 tbsps port
1/3 cup light brown sugar lightly packed

Preheat oven to 375
Peel and slice pears lengthwise into halves. With a small sharp pearing knife, remove the core and seeds and make a round well in the center for the filling
Trim a small slice from the back of the pear so they will sit in the baking dish without tipping over. Toss the pears with lemon juice to prevent them from browning.
Gently toss the blue cheese, cranberries, and walnuts in a small bowl. Divide the mixture among the pears mounding it on top of the indentation.
In the same small bowl, combine the apple cider, port and brown sugar stirring to dissolve the sugar. Pour the mixture over and around the pears, basting occasionally with the cider mixture for 30 minutes or until the pears are tender.
