Will Bloombergh knew where it was – Ledge Rd where it intersects with Orchard in East Gloucester.
That was a tough one. This is how Will got it:
“Did a land survey job out there a few years ago. Looked familiar.”

The only hint I’ll give you is it’s a paved road somewhere on Cape Ann. Good luck! And the first person to correctly identify the location will receive 1 of the last 2 remaining t-shirts before the new order comes in!
A couple of years ago my son, Mark and I did this ride on his Harley. I was able to get a lot of very cool shots from the back of the bike. We left from the soccer field on 133 in Ipswich and hit the hills on Rte. 1. We had a great time! The bike’s not running right now, so no ride this year.
Here’s what I captured yesterday. Click on the photo to see the slide show.

While I was shooting the motorcycle run, I noticed this little postage stamp garden up near the visitor center. Amazing!
Neptune’s Harvest is a by-product of Ocean Crest Seafoods down in the Fort. I’ve used the stuff and things grow like crazy!

Gotta get in shape for this!!

From the Times this morning-
The Mayor’s Desk
Carolyn Kirk
Last Thursday, we launched the city’s new Code Red Emergency Notification System.
By Sunday morning, as we realized the enormity of the situation with the water plant, we issued a Code Red emergency notification asking residents to curtail water use.
Code Red is an emergency notification system that basically speed-dials out to the phone numbers in the public phone number database. It is an efficient and direct way to reach thousands of people in a short amount of time with a pre-recorded message.
If you received the introductory call and, or received the Code Red call on Sunday morning regarding the water plant, both recorded by me, then you are in the system and will continue to receive emergency notifications.
If you did not receive any call from Code Red over the past week — or if you would like to change the phone number on file — then you must visit the City of Gloucester’s Web site (www.ci.gloucester.ma.us) and the Code Red link in order to add or change your information. For those of you without Internet access, you can access the city Web site from Sawyer Free Library or the Rose Baker Senior Center.
Since the launch of Code Red, we have received helpful feedback for making the system better. I appreciate the e-mails from residents who’ve provided concrete suggestions such as a caller ID moniker, repeating key information so there isn’t so much to digest all at once, and eliminating a pause at the beginning of the recording so the listener doesn’t hang up.
Like any new system, the kinks need to be worked out. But I am so grateful the system was up and running, and we had rolled out the initial introductory call when we did. Just three days later, we found ourselves needing to get an urgent message out quickly to residents about the failure at the Babson Water Treatment Plant.

Please be assured: Cape Pond Ice is safe and acceptable – packaged ice inventories were put up before August 15 (since that date production was curtailed, by request of the Mayor’s office, to meet the City’s water crisis) , and surplus ice product is being trucked in from sources outside Gloucester to meet needs of consumers, restaurants and ice accounts through this weekend, to assure adequate safe ice supplies. Again: Cape Pond Ice is safe to use! – Scott Memhard, President & GM, Cape Pond Ice Company
Just got the Code Red call that all water for human consumption must be boiled for at least 1 minute. All drinking water, dishwashing water is included. We’ll keep you posted for further information.
For those of you not getting the CodeRED calls – they just went out with the boil order.
Drinking, cooking, ice, brushing teeth – boil water for 1 minute.
To get on the CodeRED list if you are not getting calls, go to the City’s Web Site.

Check out Dan King’s music here. And see him tonight with the Glostafarians at Capt. Carlo’s.
From the Beacon–

The 10th annual Nelson’s Ride will be held at Stage Fort Park on Sunday, Aug. 23 (rain date: Sunday, Aug. 30). Nelson’s Ride is annual slow motorcycle ride in memory of Nelson Selig Sr., who was killed in a motorcycle accident on May 2, 2000, leaving behind his wife Felicia, children Nelson Jr. and Kristin, sisters Melanie and Jeannine, his mother Faye Brophy, his stepfather Bob Brophy, and many good friends.
The annual fundraiser began in August 2000 to raise money for Selig’s two children to attend college; that goal has been reached, and at the family’s request, now raises money for other Essex County families of riders killed in accidents.

Everywhere I see this mistake. I’m no grammar expert, but I know my it’s and its! I notice it in newspapers, magazines,articles-all over!
“It’s” is the contraction of “it is”, and “its” is ownership. For example- “It’s going to rain” means it is going to rain.
“The weather and its effects will determine if we have the party or not.” This “its” is like “his” or “her” except with objects.
Just a little annoyance. —Sharon
Now I’ll really have to watch my dangling participle! Heehee

Music at the Cape Ann Museum on Fridays at Noon
The Cape Ann Museum is pleased to present free noontime concerts in the Museum’s Sculpture Garden on Fridays during the month of August. Performers for the remainder of the month will be James White on August 21 and The Aspidistra Drawing Room Orchestra on August 28.
The Pleasant Street Tea Company and Lark Fine Foods have generously donated beverages and cookies for these events. In the event of rain, the performances will take place inside the Museum.
James White, now a resident of Gloucester, is originally from England. He has been writing music since the 1970s, playing and performing in both Europe and New England as well as doing session work with his first instrument, the electric violin.
The Aspidistra Drawing Room Orchestra is based in London, England. The orchestra specializes in the type of light classical music from the late nineteenth, early twentieth century that is usually referred to as Palm Court Music or Salon Music. The ensemble consists of a string quartet, piano, flute and oboe.
Funding for this program was made possible through a grant from the Massachusetts Cultural Council, which promotes excellence, access, education and diversity in the arts, humanities and interpretive sciences, in order to improve the quality of life for all Massachusetts residents and to contribute to the economic vitality of our communities.
The Cape Ann Museum is located at 27 Pleasant Street in Gloucester. Hours are Tuesday through Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and Sundays from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. The Museum is closed during the month of February, on Mondays, and on major holidays. Congratulations to all and Hedge, you can pick up your t-shirt at Capt. Joe’s later today. Thanks for playing!
Well, this post was supposed to be a shortened version of my slide show “Express Yourself, Gloucester” that we showed at the Block Party, BUT of course the conversion program that I use decided to change their format and it crashed my computer 3 times. So Joey said to try Youtube instead. It didn’t like my password, so I had to create another account. Uploaded the video. They can’t publish it because I used the song “We are Family” and it’s copyrighted.
I’m going for a bike ride. See you at noon!

Sefatia had her birthday party at the Block Party. Wild hats!

Troy Brown’s coming to town.(Click here to see theTimes article) AND he’s going to be at some of Gloucester’s watering holes after his appearance TODAY at The Liquor Locker (287 Main Street) from 12:30 p.m. to 2 p.m. and Seabreeze Liquors (Next to Eastern Ave. Shaw’s) from 2:30-4:00.
