8tSpmonsgloiredt · [340p – 2/18/21] While there may be a period of light snow early this evening, the ‘main area’ of light snow arrives after midnight. “Steadiest snow” will be during tomorrow afternoon. Very difficult for this pace of snow to cover the roads this time of year. Hence, driving should not be a major issue tomorrow on main roads.* This is one of those snowfalls where you do several measurements during the day tomorrow (And clean off the surface each time!) to get an accurate number. Not that it’s a lot of snow but because of the loss from solar radiation and higher sun angle during the day.

Follow Peter Lovasco at
NEMASSWeatherAlerts@PeterLovasco·NowCasting for long duration light to moderate snow event. Two main periods, later this evening and again Later Friday. Main concern is OES > ocean effect snow bandings. In red could see higher and heavier amounts , both Northshore & Southshore… just a possibility.

Join environmental attorney, diver and photographer Michael Carvalho, for a Live Zoom presentation about his arctic exhibition to Antarctica in 2018, “Antarctica: Lessons From the Bottom of the World,” on Saturday, February 20 from 2 to 4:00 p.m. Registration is required in order to receive the Zoom link. Register here.
Illustrated by his breathtaking photography he will discuss the developments in Antarctica, the rising sea levels and its impact locally. According to experts, temperatures in the Antarctic region are rising due to “heat-trapping gas pollution,” which has serious global consequences. Gloucester, like all coastal regions, is vulnerable to increasingly extreme weather.
Since obtaining his open water scuba certification in 1978 in Rockport, Carvalho has completed more than 2,500 dives on six continents.
Carvalho is the former chairman of the board of directors for the National Council for Science and the Environment. In 2019, he represented the United Nations Environment Program for…

Hey Joey!
Look at your (great), site every day to keep up with things… the only comment I have is that sometimes you will highlight a restaurant or store and not list their address…. I think it would help those places if it were easier to find rather than having to look it up on the internet. Just sayin…..
Thanks! And keep up the great work!
Jim
Thanks Jim, here’s a quick tutorial. You can pick up yur phone and say “Hey Siri… Tonno Gloucester” the results will pop up. you can do this for all the restaurants around town. It also works for businesses. I find it very useful and not very difficult. You don’t even need to type.
A lot of people ask me these kind of questions. Hopefully this is helpful

Gloucester400™’s Organizational Partner Program Launches with Far-reaching Support Throughout Cape Ann
22 Local Organizations Sign on and “Show the Love” for Gloucester’s 400th Anniversary Celebration – with More to Come
Gloucester, MA – February 12, 2021 – Just in time for Valentine’s Day, Gloucester400™ has unveiled a new program designed to strengthen connections with the community, heighten awareness of the city’s 400th anniversary, and encourage involvement among a broad range of organizations including non-profits, corporations, and local businesses. The program is the Gloucester400 Organizational Partners Program.
In its first wave of alliances, Gloucester400 has already attracted 22 organizations that are willing to collaborate and pledge support to working together on behalf of Gloucester’s 400th-anniversary celebration.
“Working with the entire community to produce a successful quadricentennial is essential,” said Laura Ventimiglia, the Gloucester400 executive director. “Looking ahead to 2023, our initial organizational partners share our collaborative nature, appreciation of Gloucester’s history, and excitement about the city’s future. We look forward to working closely with them and other interested organizations to carry out a celebration that is worthy of our 400-year history.”
Gloucester400 Organizational Partners
The first wave of Organizational Partners includes 22 of Cape Ann’s most well-known and well-respected organizations. Each is unique in its mission, members, and clients, reflecting the rich diversity that has strengthened Gloucester and its Sandy Bay heritage for almost 400 years. Current partners are:
“We’ve been very pleased by the rapid and wide-ranging response to the Organizational Partner Program. A key aspect of the program is that it allows and encourages each participating organization to retain its unique identity, be its unique self, and participate in a way that is consistent with its respective mission. In our conversations with various Partner representatives the excitement about participating in Gloucester 400 is evident and the early wave of Partnerships indicates that our collaborative approach is successful,” Ventimiglia commented. “It is also worth noting that among our initial partners and in keeping with their slogan ‘We’re Here for You,’ the Sawyer Free Library was the very first organization to partner with us.
What Does the Organizational Partners Program Entail?
The Gloucester400 Organizational Partner Program establishes an agreement between Gloucester400 and the participating partner to jointly promote the work that each does for the City of Gloucester, thereby bringing attention to their fine contributions. Further, promoting each other’s activities and events that commemorate the City’s quadricentennial mutually raises awareness and drives engagement towards initiatives that serve to celebrate Gloucester’s 400-year history. This happens in the form of marketing and outreach by each organization to their respective memberships, communities, and constituents on behalf of Gloucester’s 400th anniversary celebration.
Partners may also host or sponsor a commemorative event or project, although they are not required to do so, thus leaving the level and nature of involvement intentionally flexible to accommodate the partners’ respective missions, priorities, and resources.
Organizations interested in participating are invited to contact Laura Ventimiglia at gloucester400stories@gmail.com.
Gloucester’s 400th Anniversary: Our People, Our Stories™
Gloucester, Massachusetts, America’s oldest seaport, will be “400 years young” in 2023. To celebrate its past, honor its people, and welcome its promising future, the city has begun preparations for celebrating this historic milestone and organizing the year-long celebration of its anniversary. The theme of the quadricentennial is Gloucester: Our People, Our Stories™ and focuses on celebrating Gloucester’s history through the stories of the people who lived, sacrificed, rejoiced, worked, built, and innovated together – at times risking everything – since 1623. Gloucester Celebration Corporation is the organization established to guide the efforts to create a momentous city-wide celebration among its people and businesses and facilitate an exceptional year of festivities. Cape Ann’s small business community has proven how resilient, persistent, and creative we truly are. Over the course of the past year, our local businesses have experienced mandated closures and state regulations to help keep our community safe while enduring significant challenges. These businesses that make Cape Ann unique need our help to persevere. We are asking that you show we are stronger together by supporting your neighbors in take out, delivery, online ordering, or visiting their location for something special. Each week we will highlight one restaurant and one retailer for the community to rally behind. We implore you, Cape Ann, to keep our businesses strong so we can continue visiting them in brighter days ahead. This week we invite you to visit Laneside Pub and Brewery at Cape Ann Lanes and shop at Toodeloos! for a family night!
