We’re a real working town and we’ve got it all. Not a Disney version of a seaside community.

We have real natural beauty, real waterfront characters, real fresh seafood caught-processed and served at our locally owned (not chain) restaurants real working artists, a real downtown with shops owned by our neighbors who love to talk when you visit, real barrooms where the locals don’t wear suits and more often than not will regale you with waterfront stories. When picking a place to visit, come see us, unless you’d rather visit a cardboard cutout version of the real thing. Check out @discovergloucester and @capeannchamber for things to do and places to see. I’m quite certain you’ll be happy you did. @patdsphotos and I @thirstyseagull have great little shop downtown. We’d love to see you! The man in the boat is “old-timer” Pete Mondello. (He loves it when you call him “old-timer” 😄 my wife is an award winning Realtor – @realtor_katelyn She’d love to help you find a joint as well!

Horses Can Help Loosen The Grip Of Anxiety!

 by Angel Wings Wellness

In today’s fast-paced world, anxiety has become almost commonplace. Our minds race with endless to-do lists, worries about the future, and the pressure to constantly perform. We spend so much time trying to control life’s uncertainties that we often forget what it feels like to simply be present.

Ironically, one of life’s greatest teachers doesn’t speak our language at all.

It’s the horse.

For thousands of years, horses have lived in harmony with nature, relying on instinct, awareness, and connection rather than overthinking. When we spend time with them, they quietly invite us to do the same.

Horses Live in the Present

Unlike humans, horses don’t replay yesterday’s mistakes or worry about tomorrow’s challenges. As prey animals, they have evolved to stay completely present, paying attention to what is happening right now.

That presence is contagious.

When you step into a pasture carrying stress from work, family responsibilities, or life’s challenges, your mind may still be racing. But horses have a remarkable way of drawing you back into the present moment. Their steady breathing, quiet curiosity, and peaceful nature encourage you to slow your own pace.

Before long, you’re noticing the warmth of the sun, the sound of birds, the softness of a horse’s muzzle, and the rhythm of your own breath.

Anxiety begins to lose its grip.

“Tails on the Trails” Fun Walk Benefiting Cape Ann Animal Aid Presented by Cranney Home Services

 ~ capeannanimalaid01930 ~

Get your Tail on the Trails! Join us for a 2.6-mile hike in Dogtown Woods with your pup to fundraise for Cape Ann Animal Aid! Register for this event, and then create your own fundraiser to keep the good momentum going! All funds raised will support homeless animals at Cape Ann Animal Aid.

Register as a walker: Registration is required for walkers, and all registrations help support life-saving work! Click “Donate or Register to Walk” to get started. Note: kids under 5 years old and dogs walk free, but we would still like you to register them for an accurate head (and paw!) count.

How to Fundraise: Help raise crucial funds to help homeless animals! You can make our event as successful as possible by creating your own fundraising page. Our suggested goal for each individual fundraiser is $200, but feel free to set any goal that feels achievable to you! Fundraisers who raise over $50 will get a free “Tails on the Trails” t-shirt (additional t-shirts available for purchase). To create your personal page, click “Start Fundraising!”.

Creating a team is welcome too – walk with your friends, family, workplace, or any other group of animal lovers! The more, the merrier!

Route: This 2.6 mile loop travels from the water tower at the top of Summit Ave in Rockport through the Dogtown Woods (map below). The trail can get a bit rocky and uneven, so we recommend participants (human and canine alike!) be comfortable with a moderate woods hike for this event.

Time: The main group for the hike will kick off at 10am! Late starts are welcome but will cut off at 12pm.

Parking: parking is available at Evans Field in Rockport. PLEASE NOTE: there is a short (.25 mile) walk to the start of the hiking loop from Evans Field. If you would like to be dropped off closer to the hike start, you may drive up Summit Ave to be dropped off. Volunteers will be in all parking areas to guide participants to the trail start. We recommend arriving early enough to give yourself time to get to the start and rest a bit before starting the main walk!

Pets: Friendly, leashed and vaccinated dogs are welcome to join you on the trails! Because not all pups appreciate crowds or being approached by other dogs, we are asking all participants to kindly keep their pets on-leash for the duration of their walk. Think your pet would enjoy a quieter experience? Check out our virtual walk option!

What to Bring: Please carry in, carry out! Participants are encouraged to bring your own reusable water bottle. We will have water jugs available to refill your water and water stations for your pups along the route, but will not have plastic water bottles available for hikers. Wear comfortable shoes for hiking, and dress appropriately for the weather! All dogs participating should be leashed.
