Joey,

Everyone knows GoodMorningGloucester readers are the most fashionable blog readers anywhere. I wore this outfit today but a certain woman I may or may not be married to gave me the look that says, “Are you really going out of the house in that outfit?” Who’s right?

Upcoming Events From The Gloucester Police Department via Our New Tech Savvy Police Chief Len Campanello

The Gloucester Police Department will be hosting a Citizens Police Academy beginning February 27th and continuing for 6 weeks thereafter. It is a great opportunity for residents to learn more about their Police Department and is a program that has been well received and enjoyed in the past. We are happy to be bringing it back. Applications are available at the Police Station and some area businesses. The class is filling up fast, so if your readers would like to get in, encourage them to do so fast. For more information, they can contact Lt. John McCarthy at 978-281-9900.

Gloucester PD has also brought back the Gloucester Police Fitness Challenge!! We know the complaints some folks have about their officers being, ummm, slightly bigger than there uniforms, so we are encouraging our guys to get into shape with the 2013 GPD Fitness Challenge. Its 3 months long, from mid January to mid April, and incorporates weight loss, exercise, and education on how to make lifestyle changes that would lead to lifelong better fitness. We have over 30 members of the Police Department enrolled, including myself. If you see us out there running as a group, we’d encourage your readers to honk for support. In that same vein, we are asking for business owners to rally and support our attempts to be positive, healthy role models by pledging a $1 per pound for every pound we lose as a team, up to a maximum of 400lbs. The monies raised will be used exclusively to fund a new treadmill and new elliptical machine to further encourage our officers to remain healthy.  While our aim is $1 per pound, we would welcome any support. In exchange, we will be providing a plaque of appreciation for those businesses that show their support, as well as thanking and recognizing them in future media releases about the program. While I understand some may feel this is a lot to ask in these financial times, especially when we, as police officers, should remain in shape, but the reality is we are encouraged by the motivation shown recently and are trying to give an opportunity to become involved in our success in this initiative. I thank your readers and businesses in advance for any support.

Also, the Police Department is proud to be participating in 1 Billion Rising, a global campaign to stop violence against women and girls. This is locally sponsored by HAWC, the North Shore Rape Crisis Center, the Gloucester Coalition for the Prevention of Domestic Abuse and Cape Ann Savings Bank. On February 14 at 12:15pm in front of the Cape Ann Savings Bank Park at 101 Main St there will be a moment of silent recognition. We hope your readers are able to join us for a few minutes and show that we are united in our fight to end violence against women and girls.

Thanks for all your help and your service to the community. look forward to speaking with you soon.

The Number One Creepiest Guy Tattoo and It’s Not Even Up For Debate…

You know the gangbangers with the teardrop tattoos for every guy they murdered, or the white supremacists with their swastika tattoos or the Hell’s Angels with tattoos all over their face?

They all pale in comparison on the creepy meter compared to a grown ass man with dainty angel wings tattoed on their shoulder blades.

So Muffy Has Regained The Lead In Our Manchester Athletic Club MyZone Fitness Challenge. How You Ask?

I had no idea she’s go so deep into the archives of rogue fitness routines to try to pull out the win but apparently nothing is beneath Muffy when she competes.

My Manchester Athletic Club Spy Cam caught her top secret workout regimen which has propelled her over me in the standings-

Image

The really cool thing is that even though I’m on vacation I can strap on my fitness band and it will record up to 16 hours of my workouts even if I’m away from the MAC.

I’d much rather work out at the MAC but as soon as I pop back in to the club all the data from my workouts away from the MAC will be uploaded to the servers and tabulated (don’t ask me how it works, it just does).

The challenge and this MyZone band has totally motivated me to take my workouts up a notch.

I’ll be experimenting with Muffy’s rogue workout regimen once I get back into town.  On that you can be sure.

If you want more info on joining the MAC or getting started with MyZone, call 978-526-8900

Aaand the Duck Torture Continues- Aileen Kern Submits-

Hi Joey,
My husband Doug and I enjoyed meeting Sista Felicia, the Mrs., Amanda and B.J. this past summer at the Waterfront Festival.  We bought a couple of T-shirts and got a stickah too.  We went to Salzburg, Austria for Christmas and planned to take the stickah with us to send you a photo of us representing, but we couldn’t find it when we were packing for the trip.  So instead, I’m sending you some photos of Salzburg shop windows displaying Mozart Rubber Ducks and others with an Austrian theme.  The Austrian branch of the RD family!!  Thought this might provide a few laughs on a late January day.
Many thanks to you and all of the blog contributors for everything you do—-GMG provides my daily connection to Gloucester in between visits and until we can move there—I absolutely love the photos, community news, and humor.
Take care!
Aileen Kern

I’m sure Morrison is sitting somewhere giggling like a schoolgirl.

Gloucester DECA Fundraiser

Hello! My name is Danielle Pomeroy, and I am a senior at Gloucester High School. I am the president of our city’s DECA chapter, and was wondering if there was any way in which you could publish an article publicizing our upcoming fundraiser. It is a babysitting night on Valentine’s Day at the Magnolia Library for all ages 2-12. The cost is $5 an hour, $20 for the entire night (5-9). For each additional child from the same family, the cost will be a $10 flat rate. We will include arts & crafts, activities, snacks, and a movie. It will be run by a large group of local students participating in Gloucester DECA, and all proceeds will go towards reducing the cost for our state competing in March (approximate $320 per student, and 15 are eligible to attend). If you have any questions you can contact me, Danielle Pomeroy, atdaniellepomeroy2013@gmail.comThank You!Sincerely, Danielle
