Tonight A Tribute Allen Toussaint at The Dave Sag’s Blues Party 8:30 to 11:30pm 2.25.2016

dave-sag-rl-4-3-2014-1 (2)

It’s a special week for me as I capture some of my favorite high-value targets and toss ’em on the stage for a big whoop-di-do. Seeing as how one of my favorite songwriters and performers passed on a few months ago, I thought It’d be a good idea to honor him with a tribute. I’m talkin’ about Mr. Allen Toussaint.

Allen-Toussaint-RIP

http://allentoussaint.com/

You may not have heard the name, but this guy was one of the most important tunesmiths of the 60’s and 70’s. He wrote over 1000 songs, some of which are classics.. We’re gonna do like 30 of them, if we can, with no rehearsal, no backsies and no money down. To help me out I’ve engaged my most favorite lovers of his music. Phew!
Let’s start with Edd Scheer, everybody’s favorite frontman, drummer and vocalist. Add Mr. Jon Ross, on guitar and vocals, and Mr. John Cameron , on keys, and me, suffering with a swollen enigma, coughing my brains out, and writing out words to 30 songs and what do you get? Hopefully a stellar night of Allen’s top notch music!
Somebody help me!

Professor Harp Joins the Dave Sag’s Blues Party Tonight @ The Rhumb Line 8:30pm 2.11.2016

dave-sag-rl-4-3-2014

Wow. I’ve been so busy. Just got back from Fat Tuesday gig and i’m bushed. So here goes:
Lets welcome back the inimitable Mr. Professor Harp. Comin’ all the way from New Bedford where the blues smells like fish, he certainly fits in here in Gloucester. He’s got a razor sharp take on all things musical and will have you quivering in your mukluks as he dives deep into the muddy waters. Backing him up will be that nun-eating master of the Qatar, Mr. Mike DiBari and the shivaree-inducing drumambulist Mr. Stevvee Chaggaris. And me, too. Showtime 8:30. See you then!

Judith Sargent Murray ‎Love Notes: The Love Letters of Judith Sargent Murray and John Murray, A Timeless American Love Story Set to Music @ The North Shore Folklore Theatre Company 169 Main Street. Gloucester, Ma

henry love letters

John Murray is known as the Father of Organized Universalism in America, and was a charismatic, handsome firebrand who preached love, kindness and virtue, sometimes at his peril.

And Judith Sargent Murray is considered the most important female essayist of 18th-century America and a founding Universalist. She challenged the new American nation to be virtuous, fair, and philanthropic; to improve female education, respect women’s abilities, and allow them to participate as full citizens.

The couple was often separated and exchanged hundreds of letters. Their love story is timeless and compelling.

The event has been scheduled at 5:30 p.m. to give you plenty of time to enjoy a lovely Valentine’s Day meal before or after!

Featuring Bonnie Hurd Smith & Henry∞Cameron Allen
