Gloucester Up Close and Personal

“Another opener! Judythe Meagher opens her solo exhibit “Gloucester Up Close and Personal” at the North Shore Arts Association, starting today and showing through the 31st. These new works promise to be even more spectacular than the watercolors, oils and acrylics found at her Rocky Neck gallery.  She is hosting a reception on Friday, August 20th, 5-7.”

“May you slip a little, drift a little, swim way out…”

As you pass through
the seasons of yourself…
May you slip a little,
drift a little,
swim way out,
lose yourself occasionally
in the fragrance
and the fire,
be a little blown away,
be a little certain,
find the hearth that waits for you
in every kind of weather.

Congratulations to Ruthanne Collinson,
leading contender for Poet Laureate of Gloucester!
Ruthanne (Rufus) Collinson is the leading contender to succeed John Ronan as the city’s next poet laureate with approval by the Committee for the Art’s Poet Laureate Selection Panel.

Get Your Fresh PEACHES! Farmer’s Market Today!

Don’t forget that the Farmer’s Market is happening today 3:30–6:30pm! The peaches have been amazing the last few weeks and you know they’re good when your two-year-old could care less about ice cream and throws fits for peaches. That’s what I’m saying! Juicy, dripping, delicious, better than ice cream fresh fruit. Isn’t it amazing that they just hang there on trees waiting to be picked by our favorite local farmers?

Join the Farmer’s Market and get yourself a neat little sticker like this and feel all squishy inside (like a peach) knowing that you’re supporting your local people:

“FIND YOUR ROOTS!”

Where's My Peaches!?

Squish! Peachy Keen…

Pleasant Street Tea Co Momma-Friendly

Kudos to the Pleasant Street Tea Co for not only serving up one of the nicest Chocolate Mint Smoothies and yummy little macaroons, but for canceling plans and staying open late for our Crunchy North Shore Parents mommies night out meet-up so we could all hang out and enjoy! Nice!

Green Meadows Farm: CSA Haul

Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) means that you invest in the farm by paying at the planting season so the farmer has money for seed and then you get a share of the food they produce.

Our CSA keeps us in touch with reality of the seasons, the food, and gets us outside. (Not to mention it’s a great value and delicious!) It is so much fun every week picking up our produce and cutting flowers and herbs. Almost every week has pick your own such as blueberries and beans the week this was taken.

Here is the haul from our small share a few weeks back plus some focal art from my wee one…

CSA Haul

Many local farms offer them and at less than $20 a week it’s a great value for our small share. If you’re interested, find a local CSA here at Local Harvest.
