Pet of the Week-Sporty Spice

Sporty Spice

Hello!   My name is Sporty Spice and I am a happy and playful three-month-old female pup who is Chihuahua Shiba Inu with a beautiful cream-and-white coat.   I will be small to medium size when I am fully grown.   I can’t wait to meet my new family!  If you would like to meet me, I amat the Cape Ann Animal Aid located at the Christopher Cutler Rich Animal Shelter in Gloucester. Check our website at: CapeAnnAnimalAid.com    I am spending a lot of time with other pups, visitors and volunteers and I get along well with everyone.   Someone asked me if I am part rabbit because of my ears! I love having big ears because I can hear all the great things everyone is saying about me – one of the volunteers just said I am a sweet pup and then she picks me up and gives me a hug, brushes me, takes me for a walk, feeds me and I get another hug before she leaves – this is the life!

Pet of the Week- Joey

Joey

My name is Joey. I think I am about five-years-old.  I have a handsome white-and-tiger coat.  I found myself homeless as an adolescent, I lived on the harsh streets in Boston alone.  Along the way, I met some wonderful friends who were part of a feeding program.  These human friends would come out each night and feed the cats who lived on the streets.  I was so grateful for the kindness they showed me.   One of my favorite’s was Ms. Patty – she would feed the feral cats who were not friendly to me at all.  Ms. Patty realized at one time I must have been a house cat.   I worried about Ms. Patty traveling alone at night and I would keep her company and safe along her route.   We would go the library and three other stops before going right to Ms. Patty’s own front door.   The kind ladies thought it would be best if I were placed in a shelter where I could find a loving family.   I am now at the Cape Ann Animal Aid, located at the Christopher Cutler Animal Shelter, Four Paws Lane, Gloucester.   Check out their site at www.CapeAnnAnimalAid.com

The shelter here is beautiful – and so are the staff and volunteers who treat me like Ms. Patty did!

Pet of the Week- Phoebe

Phoebe

HELP!  Now that I have your attention…my name is Phoebe.  I am a sweet girl.  My brother Dillon and I are at the shelter located at the Cape Ann Animal Aid, located at the Christopher Cuter Rich Animal Shelter, Four Paws Lane, Gloucester.

We had to be given up after seven years as out owner’s small child is allergic to cats.   So, we are looking for another happy home and hoping that we can be adopted together as we have never been apart.  We are not allergic to people, we love them.   If you have the space in your home and heart to adopt us both, we would be jumping with you and we will have lots of fun and you will always have someone to talk to and you will always have a happy heart.

Pet of the Week- Poppy!

Poppy

Hi!   My name is Poppy, I am a two-month-old, black-and-white miniature Dachshund with a smooth coat.

I am a sweet little girl pup.  If you are interested in meeting me, I am at the Cape Ann Animal Aid, located at the Christopher Cutler Rich Animal Shelter, located at Four Paws Lane in Gloucester.  If you are up to the challenges of an active and playful pup, I am your dog.

Remember that Pride Stride 2013 will be held on Sunday, April 28 from Stage Fort Park in Gloucester, beginning with 10 a.m. registration and 12 Noon Walk and celebration cookout for all walkers at 1:15 p.m.  The CAAA’s team will be Team Paws for the Cause!  Check out more information at: CapeAnnAnimalAid.com

There is a dog behind me and thinks he is going to take my toy, so I must attend to this right now.  I may be miniature, but when someone takes my toys, I am rather mighty!

Digital Dogtown

digital dogtown, gloucester

coconut, dogtown, gloucester

This past weekend we stumbled upon these Digital Dogtown Markers on the Dogtown Square trail. Each have a map with a QR code to scan. Each sign has information on the stops along the trail, similar to the signs on the Harborwalk around town. I didn’t have my phone on me, so I didn’t get to check it out for myself. Next time, I’ll bring my phone and see what I’m missing.

It was nice to get outside and enjoy the area. Coconut especially liked the walk. She climbed the giant boulders and rolled in the leaves. I made sure to check her good for ticks and luckily didn’t find any.  We saw a few others on the trail; people riding bikes, dirt bikes, walking dogs and taking photos.

It’s nice to have such a peaceful escape so close to home.

UPDATE: From Linn Parisi: Alan Davis did this project towards his Eagle Scout Award. He did the research, organizing, etc. and did a great job.

Thanks Linn for a little more background. Great job Alan!

The reason why I am looking out the window, the nice volunteer is walking another pup and I want her to come in as I really need a back rub!

Home needed for Mr. Z

Cheryl writes in…

“I made a fabulous connection for Bella…a better home than I could provide…still looking for a home for Z…if possible could you repost his bio…I would love to think they could be in the same area and maybe be able to run together once in a while…

Again Thank You for your help,
Love and Light,
Cheryl”

mr. z, adopt, dog

Let’s find Mr. Z a new home! I’m sure he would love to be someone’s valentine.

Happy Valentine’s Day!

~Alicia

UPDATE: Mr. Z found a good home and he’s near his old friend, Bella!

“The homes are so perfect for each dog and get this…they are going to be just about across the street from each other…REALLY how sweet is that. They can still have a romp on the beach and a visit now and then.

Bella is going to a gentleman that is retired and will give her all the love and attention she needs. And honors her age.

Z has gone to a home with a young black lab and a gentleman that lives for his dogs….and the funny thing….Z seemed to be the calmest of the 3…I never thought I’d see the day…lol He is the good ole boy of the house.”

There are people outside making what look like snow people!   They are not moving, talking and they are very still.  I hope the nice volunteer comes to take me for a walk and not one of those snow people!

Making the Most of Nemo

Took Coconut to play or really “swim” in the snow.

And acted like a little kid jumping into the huge snow drifts (don’t try this at home).
