My View of Life on the Dock

The 63rd annual Gloucester Sidewalk Bazaar is scheduled to take place this weekend, Thursday through Saturday, August 4th to 6th on Main Street in downtown Gloucester.
This year’s event features over 55 participating merchants, vendors and non-profits. The Sidewalk Bazaar is the largest Gloucester marketplace event of the year, known for days of bargains, music, food, and discounts, along with new and exciting merchandise by a variety of merchants and vendors alike.
Entertainment will be provided all 3 days by a selection of musicians. Acoustic musician A.J. Fronce will be located at the Parson Street Stage. Arnie Rosen, musician, and vocalist Deanna Brunetti will perform at the Cape Ann Savings Pocket Park. The Cape Ann Vernal Pond Team will be on hand to show and tell about their gallery of snakes. Cape Ann Bible Church will be with us again, providing games for young children.
For the ultimate “taste of Gloucester” experience, Nana’s Fried Dough will be on deck this year, along with all the wonderful Gloucester Main Street restaurants.
Enjoy the waterfront and experience the 2022 Gloucester Sidewalk Bazaar.

“The only place in the world where you can drink a cold Sam Adams…. While looking at a cold Sam Adams.” The Beantown Pub in Boston serves up lots of ice cold Sam Adams as tourists and locals alike enjoy a beer directly across the street from the burial site of Sam Adams.

One of the 3 sunflower fields from School Street Sunflowers has opened in Ipswich at 18 School St right behind the high school. This field does not require tickets but does offer cut-your-own sunflowers for $2 each. The other 2 fields will require admission when they open later in the summer, so stay tuned. Their Facebook page adds that Goat Yoga is also available every Sunday and those tickets are available here. It’s hard not to smile and feel peaceful when you are facing a field of sunflowers, so maybe stop by when you can. Yes, I took Keith and Aretha……..

Hi,
I have a few excellent up close photos of the eagle that was at Wingaersheek beach on July 20th.
I thought someone may be interested in them who follow birds here in Gloucester.
Do you know anyone who would want the photos? I’m not a birder, I was just at the beach that day. It was amazing to be just a few feet away!
Thank you,
MaryEllen

After a busy workday, nothing takes away the stress like a swim and a couple of hours at the beach.

Hello, this is Mayor Greg Verga with an important message from the City of Gloucester.
As the Gloucester Fire Department and Massachusetts Forestry Services continue to manage the brush fire on Poles Hill they will be conducting controlled burnouts in the area. These burnouts will result in additional flames and smoke. Gloucester Fire Department will be monitoring the situation to ensure the safety of the area.
At this time the use of outdoor fireplaces, fire pits, chimineas, and any open or recreational fires is prohibited. Also, please do not extinguish or discard cigarettes outside.
The Gloucester Fire Department will continue to be on the scene throughout the day. There will be limited road closures and access in the area. We ask residents to avoid the area if possible. Residents should remain vigilant in monitoring for signs that the fire has restarted in the areas near them and call 911 if there are no fire personnel in the immediate area.
Please note there will be an additional call this afternoon related to water use restrictions.
Thank you for your cooperation.
