Cathy McCarthy writes: “Please join us this year for our yearly plunge !! We took a year off and we are back ! We plunge at 1pm at Oakes Cove Beach. (Corner of Stevens Way and
Wonson) We once again will be collecting non-perishables for THE OPEN DOOR. This is the kick-off for the food pantry. Please be generous and bring tuna, peanut-butter, pasta, bottled juice, soups, beans etc !! All welcome and please join us to bring in 2022 💗. Water shoes necessary”

Fata Morgana mirages significantly distort the object or objects on which they are based, often such that the object is completely unrecognizable. A Fata Morgana may be seen on land or at sea, in polar regions, or in deserts. It may involve almost any kind of distant object, including boats, islands, and the coastline.

First Snowy Owl Report

The winter solstice was very kind, allowing us to find our fist TWO snowy owls of the season. One at Parker River Wildlife Refuge and one a little further north (thanks to a tip from a fellow photographer). We also got to see a juvenile eagle and a peregrine falcon at Parker River (IDs by an actual birder so……) Thrilling as always and a great early Christmas gift!
