GLOUCESTER, MASSACHUSETTS – November 3rd, 2021 – Young Legends Street Hockey (YLSH), a non-profit street hockey organization dedicated to creating a competitive and fun hockey atmosphere that improves a player’s athletic ability and self-esteem on and off the rink, today announced the launch of the first-ever planned street hockey rink in Gloucester, Massachusetts.

“We are thrilled to be launching construction of the first-ever street hockey rink in Gloucester,” said Carl Ellis IV, President and Founder of YLSH. “This rink underscores our commitment to providing a safe and exciting environment for young kids to play street hockey.”

YLSH started in 2004 and has been successfully running its league every summer for over 18 years. Comprised of regular season games, mini-camps, and skills sessions, it is the leading and only street hockey league on the North Shore. The organization has evolved and now has Fall Skill Development Programs for youth players and a Chipmunk Learn to Play Hockey for 4-6 year olds. Young Legends has also created travel street hockey teams for both youth athletes and adults, both of which have competed in National Tournaments.

Carl also stated, “We would not be where we are today without the players, coaches, parents, Gloucester City Council, the Mayor’s office, DPW, and our generous donors. I am equally humbled and eager to build this rink as rapidly as possible so that kids have a place to play for many years to come.”

Key investors for the project include the Community Preservation Committee, J. Linzee Coolidge of the Dusky Fund, Bank Gloucester, the Gloucester Fisherman Athletic Association, and the Boston Bruins Foundation. There are many others that have provided donations that will not go unnoticed when the rink is completed.

A Ceremony in recognition of the beginning of construction for the rink will take place on Saturday, November 30th at 12:00 pm ET. All are welcome to attend.
