Essex, MA: For beginner riders to seasoned cyclists, Essex County Greenbelt’s annual Tour de Greenbelt – Cycle for Land Conservation offers a variety of courses to fit all abilities. The ride benefits Greenbelt’s local land conservation work, and cyclists will enjoy routes that wind through the scenic landscapes of Essex County.
Tour de Greenbelt offers four untimed routes, so cyclists can ride at their own pace: a century (100 miles) road ride, a half-century (50 miles) road ride, a shorter (25 miles) road ride, and a 40-mile Gravel Grinder that is suitable for cyclists with the proper bike, with off-road excursions into protected forests and reservations. Cyclists will pass more than 50 properties conserved by Greenbelt.
The event starts at Greenbelt’s beautiful Cox Reservation at 82 Eastern Avenue in Essex on September 18 at 9 am. Post-ride festivities, including food and music under a tent, are also at Cox Reservation.
Riders can find details, pre-register and order a Tour de Greenbelt bike jersey at www.tourdegreenbelt.org . Registration will also be open the morning of the event starting at 7:30am.
