I stopped by Learning Express in Beverly yesterday afternoon…as I often do because it is so close to work….and discovered a sign on the door that says, “We’re Moving.”
Luckily, they’re not moving far…just down the road in fact, but you still might want to make a mental note so you’re not surprised when you go to visit them.

Spring Artists Honored at Rose Baker
Every two months, Juni Van Dyke, Director of the Rose Baker Art Program selects two artists from the program to have their works exhibited in the lobby of the Rose Baker Senior Center. For the spring 2017 exhibit, Juni selected two artists with very different styles: Judy Magee and Barbara Jobe.

Judy Magee cannot remember a time when she was not painting or drawing. As a child she began drawing as a way to pass the time and the interest has only grown over the years.

David Rogers @ Folklore Theatre – June 3rd
Gloucester, MA–solo guitarist David Rogers performs Saturday, June 3rd at 7:00pm at Folklore Theatre Company 169 Main Street, Gloucester, MA 01930 (978) 704-1269Admission: $15.00 https://www.northshorefolk.org
Termed, ‘a prominent guitarist,’ by the New York Times and praised by The Washington Post for his ‘astonishingly florid’ improvisations, David Rogers presents an evening of solo guitar music with strong leanings towards jazz, world, folk and classical music.
An endorsing artist for GHS Strings, his music has been featured in major guitar magazines such as Fingerstyle Guitar in the United States and Akustic Gitarre, in Germany. His solo and ensemble performances have been broadcast on American National Public Radio and Bayrische Rundfunk.
David will play a program based around Spanish, Flamenco, Up-Tempo Latin, original settings of Leonard Cohen, Rolling Stones’, Roxy Music songs, as well as music by the Beatles, J.S. Bach and original compositions. He will also be premiering an original setting of Tim Buckley’s stunning Song to the Siren.

4 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Join them for an evening of food and hospitality.
The meal is simple—soup, bread and a cookie. Guests can choose and keep a soup bowl handcrafted for this community event. The bowl goes home as an unspoken reminder that somewhere someone’s bowl is empty.
Tickets available at the door. $15 for adults and $10 for children under ten.
Extra parking is available at Harbor Beach with complimentary trolley service to and from the event site.
Empty Bowl events are held nationally to generate awareness concerning hunger and to raise money for local hunger-relief programs. Proceeds from this event will benefit the Summer Meals and Mobile Market programs.

Join us this Mother’s Day for an adventure with the classic characters from Beatrix Potter! Bring the whole family to enjoy a morning with the mischievous Peter Rabbit and his friends!
Attendees will explore the farm and meet some of the classic characters such as; Peter Rabbit, Squirrel Nutkin, Johnny Town Mouse, Tom Kitten and more! Visit Mr. McGregor’s garden, Mrs. Tiggy Winkle’s kitchen, Jemima Puddle Duck’s nest and Hunca Munca’s doll house. After your adventure, join us in the Carriage Barn for light refreshments and meet our farm animals in the barnyard. Kids will also make a beautiful potted lettuce garden inspired by Peter Rabbit as a gift for mom!
FREE for moms! Please register all other adults and children. (Example: If Dad is registering for the family of five -Mom, Dad, and three kids- add 1 adult and three child tickets to your cart.)This event runs rain or shine. Please pre-register so we have enough refreshments for all. Children under 1 are free.

Of the thousands of flowering plants in the Arboretum, only one, the lilac, is singled out each year for a daylong celebration. Mainly located on the edge of Bussey Hill Road in the heart of the landscape, the lilac collection at the Arnold Arboretum is among the premier collections of these plants in North America.
Tours of the lilacs and family activities are available from 10:00am to 3:00pm on Saturday, May 13
