Waka directly translates as âJapanese poem.â Japanâs Emperor Meiji (November 3, 1852 â July 29, 1912) was born in Kyoto. He is said to have written 100,000 waka. This form of Japanese Poetry was part of the teachings of USUI Mikao Senseiâs Reiki RyĹhĹ, a Japanese Healing Art/Method that originated in 1922. The practice of reading waka is known as gyosei. Waka from the Emperor Meiji are read at the gatherings of the Reiki Gakkai, the original Reiki Association in Tokyo.
