Two hours in I wasn’t satisfied with the color, and the Weber Smokey Mountain had been cruising along at 225. I opened the fuel door and saw quite a bit of charcoal had been used up. Figuring we needed another two hours of heat and looking for a little more heat I fired up 2/3 a chimney of briquettes and added them to the charcoal basket. I also mixed up a container of a couple of tablespoons of Stubbs BBQ sauce, a couple of ounces of apple cider vinegar and a tablespoon of tabasco sauce and spritzed the ribs.
The snow has stopped, it’s just raw and cold out but the extra lit charcoal has helped the temps on the pit climb.
2:45PM Pull the ribs off the pit and foil them.
A drizzle of honey, a drizzle of Sweet Baby Rays and a light sprinkle of brown sugar. Ribs foiled meat side down and back on the smoker.

Good News – More People Are Surviving Cancer!
The Boston Globe reported January 8th that “cancer deaths have fallen to their lowest rated since the numbers peaked in 1991,” based on a study done by the American Cancer Society.
Cancer Survivorship is a growing field offering education and specific programs addressing the long-term physical, mental-emotional, psychosocial, and financial, needs of those living with and living beyond cancer.

Sponsored by the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO,) the American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP,) and American College of Physicians (ACP) information is presented on treatment, research and support for patients with a cancer diagnosis and beyond.
All month long I’ve been looking forward to the first Patriots playoff game to smoke up some ribs for the crew. Babyback ribs were on sale so I picked up three racks and looked at the forecast yesterday which said the rain and snow was supposed to stop between noon and 2pm today.
Well fast forward to today and there’s no rain at all, instead it’s a full on sideways huge wind snowstorm.
Not to be deterred by the weather we forge ahead!
Babybacks were on sale at Stop and Shop yesterday but they didn’t have them in yet and would be frozen so I went to Market Basket, paid a little more from them but they were in the case unfrozen.
Took the ribs out of the cryovac and gave them a thorough rinse.
Next piercing the sinewy membrane on the bone side of the ribs and peeled off…
It was the best money I’ve spent on a movie in a long time. Loved it.
I went to see it last night with our peeps James and Anna Eves Bangladesh and Craig and Hanna Kimberley. Anna and Hanna are two huge feminists and Hannah pointed out that the official action figure set didn’t include the female star of the movie who absolutely crushed it as the strong endearing lead character. So, mystified as to how that could be, I googled it and yep came out with the confirmation.
The “Fire THAT guy” award of the day goes to the dope who made the decision to leave the incredible break-out lead strong female character out of the official Action Figure set.

Parking at the hall is very limited. Please park on T-Wharf or use on-street parking, so we may use our parking lot for our lesser-abled guests.

The third Tuesday of every month marks a special public program at the Cape Ann Museum in which seniors are invited to spend time in one gallery for extended reflection and small group conversation. This coming Tuesday, the 19th, a CAM guide will lead a discussion in the maritime galleries, stimulating personal curiosities and stories, while having fun, growing and learning together. The program will begin at 10:30am and last about one hour. It is free and open to the public.
Looking for a Valentine’s gift idea for your special cook? Alexandra’s Bread has the gamut, from crisp, tailored nautically inspired aprons to vintage girly girly ruffles and polka dots, and everything in-between. I especially love their current collection, including several made from cotton fabric prints seemingly inspired by Cape Ann author/illustrator/Folly Cove designer Virginia Lee Burton’s children’s book TheLittle House.
Super interesting meeting last night on the proposed improvements to Stage Fort Park, presented by Steve Winslow, senior project manager, Mass in Motion, Gloucester Community Development Department. A preliminary drawing was discussed outlining the new possible location for the Farmer’s Market. Amongst several proposed improvements, my favorite was the idea to connect, via a new trail, Stage Fort Park to Ravenswood. GENIUS!! A commitment was made to continue to work with the Cape Ann Farmer’s Market, Cyclocross, festivals, neighbors, and all interested parties. Looking forward to learning more!

Tennessee lottery officials have not yet confirmed the ticket, and Tennessee law requires winners to come forward with the winning ticket and identification in order to claim their prize. So instead of doing that, they physically brought the ticket to New York City, a calm, peaceful metropolis where nothing goes wrong and no one ever gets robbed. This ignores all advice that winners should lay low and avoid the press, because winning a huge lottery can be a curse.
So I watched this interview and the couple from Tennessee seem like super nice grounded people. I think the interviewer’s second question was “Whose idea was it to come on our show with the ticket instead of gong directly to the lottery office” To which the husband points to his lawyer who was standing right behind the couple and says “It was his idea.”
Now in my opinion that lawyer should he fired on the spot. The couple is just walking around with a ticket worth a half a billion dollars in NYC? And it was the attorney’s idea to go on the show with the ticket instead of gong to the lottery to lock it down? Why, so the attorney could show everyone that he was the guy they picked? Fire that fucking guy on the spot for negligence.
