It’s basically them saying that their time is more valuable than your time. Drives me up a wall.
If they said what they really felt when they showed up late, what do you think they would say?
I’ll start.
“I had plenty of time to get here on time but I wanted to make sure everyone was here before me so I wouldn’t have to wait for anyone else”
Add what you think goes through the perpetually late person’s mind when they show up late with a Starbucks Coffee in their hand.

Absolutely agree! Like it’s no big deal.

Mon dieu! It just might be that the person struggles with ADD and loses track of time. It could also be that they have anxiety and or ambivalence about catching up with you. Be nicer…people might show up on time. 🙂

The most frustrating ones (and ones I’m referring to) are the ones you know really well that don’t have ADD, they just have a disregard for everyone else in your group’s time.

Fair enough, they probably will never get it….:)

P.S. They might also be French or from another culture that doesn’t have the same sense of time,so before judging get curious and ask questions. You know what assumptions do – right?

It’s still may be an inner response to themselves, not you ….really. For example, a perfectionist can’t stop doing something until it is right, their clothes, hair, anything… There are so many possible reasons, one of them being they are inconsiderate A**holes, but in my work, I often see things that are more in line with self-management/self-esteem

Being habitually late, for someone with ADD, is frustrating, embarrassing & upsetting to them. Many experience what is referred to as a ‘time perception disorder’ & it seems that no matter hard they try to plan ahead, something always comes up at the last minute : lost keys, forgot to feed the dog, etc. Late again & everyone’s pissed off, & thinking like Kathy!

Everybody runs late once in a while. But those who are habitually late are rude and inconsiderate. If a person has ADD and tends to “lose track of time” They should put all their plans and appointments into their phone calendar. It will sound an alarm 15, 30, 60 minutes ahead of time. The individual chooses how much advance warning they need. It IS antisocial passive aggressive behavior, it is.
