I never knew there was once a Pavillion Hotel, apparently at Pavillion Beach. I guess the new hotel is just history repeating itself. Mike DiLascio sent me this link to share with GMG readers. There are a number of really cool and interesting old photos of Gloucester. In memory of Fred Bodin. http://digitalcollections.nypl.org/search/index?utf8=✓&keywords=gloucester+massachusetts#

The Pavilion Hotel was where the Tavern ex-Hotel is now.

Thanks Damon. So it is where Blackburn Tavern is? The old photo gave the illusion that you were looking toward the water. Do you know when that was?

The Tavern as a hotel had a salt water pool for guests. Neighborhood kids would occasionally go for a swim until they were politely asked to leave. The house on Beach Court next to theTabern was once used for the summer help at the hotel.
