Free Adult Speech, Language, Memory and Swallowing Screening

at Addison Gilbert  Hospital

The Speech-Language Therapy Department at Addison Gilbert hospital is accepting appointments for a free adult Speech, Language, Memory and Swallowing screening.  Appointments are available from September 6 – 30, 2011.

Adults with difficulty communicating or having trouble with memory or problem solving tasks and/or adults who are having difficulty swallowing are invited to the free speech/language/cognitive/swallowing screenings that are 30-minutes long. Communication, memory and swallowing abilities have a great impact on individuals quality of life, sometimes these tasks become more difficult in aging adults, the speech-language pathologist will offer strategies and tips to help improve and/or maintain your current level of functioning for a longer period of time.

The free clinics will be held at the Speech-Language Therapy Outpatient Clinic at Addison Gilbert Hospital at 298 Washington Street in Gloucester .

Community Health Fair

Rockport Senior Center

Addison Gilbert Hospital and Northeast Senior Health will host a free health fair on Thursday, September 15 from 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. at the Rockport Senor Center , 58 Broadway in Rockport.

Free hearing screenings, blood pressure and other health screenings, Reiki clinic, educational booths, give-a-ways, resources for families and seniors, access to insurance information, refreshments and more.

The Rockport Senior Center will provide lunch. A $2.00 donation is suggested. To order, please call 978-546-5027 prior to the health fair.

ASSIST YOU?

Ruth George, RN, BSN, manager of Emergency Services at Addison Gilbert Hospital will be the guest speaker on Tuesday, September 6 from 12:30 – 1:30 p.m. at the Rockport Senior Center.   Learn more about your local emergency department, dealing with emergencies and knowing when to call for help.  There is no fee and pre-registration is not required.

Lunch may be ordered through the Rockport Senior Center by calling 978-546-5027 prior to the lecture.

Nicotine Anonymous Support Group at Addison Gilbert Hospital

STOP SMOKING AND USING TOBACCO support group will meet at Addison Gilbert Hospital , 298 Washington Street , Gloucester, on Monday evenings at 7 p.m.

The free program will be held in the Longan Room located at the Washington Street entrance of the hospital.

C.A.R.E. WORKSHOPS

C.A.R.E. Workshops are provided to active injection drug users at risk for hepatitis, overdose, HIV and other substance related health issues.  This program is held every Wednesday from 6:30 – 7:30 p.m. in the Healy Room at Addison Gilbert Hospital , 298 Washington Street , Gloucester (enter at Washington Street entrance).
