that Charlie McCarthy represented Good Morning Gloucester at Madfish Wharf on Rocky Neck? Edgar Bergen was unavailable. Edgar Bergen and Charlie McCarthy made their debut on “Royal Gelatin Hour” in 1936 and were an instant success. Soon after they were given their own show for Chase & Sanborn. Almost immediately, The Edgar Bergen and Charlie McCarthy Show became one of the most popular programs. Charlie looks a little worse for the wear, and he’s so old now he has to be pushed around in a pram. You never know who you’ll see on Rocky Neck.

Hi Genie – I’m glad you’re enjoying them! You can come across some pretty interesting things around Gloucester. Anyone who’s interested in the Charlie McCarthy dummy or the vintage pram, they are available at Alma’s Art & Antiques on Rocky Neck, next to Madfish Wharf.
