I talked with Joey down at the dock this morning to find out who this “EJ” was.
Of course he was no help at all. So I checked out her bio and thought I would post it so everyone would know who she is. It’s hard for some of us to explain who we are and why we want to share the Beauty of Cape Ann with all of you. Some of us are shy and humble to be a part of this exploding blog that GMG is. so here’s a little of EJ’s bio.
E.J.
Gloucester, MA
Artist, researcher, spiritual traveler of this fascinating orb we inhabit, lover of life and all it has to offer.
Hi everyone out there in GMG land. My name is Ellen “E.J.” Lefavour (a/k/a “Ejay Khan” – the pseudonym I used during my years as a political activist artist). I am a newcomer to Cape Ann, and thrilled to be a new contributor to Good Morning Gloucester. I am a painter and photographer who has lived and worked as an artist for 20 years, since leaving the corporate world in 1990 to pursue my passion. My contributions to GMG will consist of images (either my paintings, photographs, or the occasional video) and a little history about the image, called “Did you Know?” I hope to come up with tidbits of information that people don’t already know, or had forgotten they knew. As I am new here, everything is new and fascinating to me, especially the amazing history, so bear with me if I post something that is common knowledge – I’ll eventually come up with something that’s new to you. Please take a minute to comment on my posts, like them or not, especially if you have corrections or something to add, as that is how I, and all of us, learn. Have a Good Morning Gloucester, and a blessed day.

Hi Paul,
That was really nice of you. Now I’d really like to meet you. Where is your gallery, and when are you there? I’d love to stop in and say hi in person. E.J.

No problem EJ! Sometimes Joey’s to busy to think of these things and probably too hungover this weekend. I think it’s good to have the readers know who’s posting.
Gallery? Not yet, maybe Spring 2011. We’ll meet down the dock someday.

EJ, Joey will send out a text message at about 7AM every Saturday exactly when the Passports breakfast happens, usually a little after 9AM. Then we try to stiff him on the bill. If it wasn’t for the crunchy home fries there I might be getting somewhere on my “I gotta fit in my friggin kayak by Blackburn Challenge” diet.
Thanks for signing on. Joey has worked us all so hard the past year we need the help and I’ll split all my GMG profit sharing just to get a day off.

Thanks Paul. I didn’t know there were regular Saturday morning get togethers at Passports. I knew about the one before Middle Street Walk (which I couldn’t make), but thought that was just because there was something big going on. I look forward to having the chance to meet everyone. I would have become a contributor sooner if I’d realized all I had to do was ask. I started subscribing to GMG months before I moved here to get a feel for the area and people, and it is such a great blog that I am really happy to be a part of. Hope you and your family have a wonderful Christmas.

Not everyone that asks becomes a contributor. There are certain criteria that make up a GMG contributor. You happened to fit the mold.:)

Thank you, Joey. I am honored to be a part of your crew. Just please don’t make me pull lobster traps or eat hot wings (which I don’t like) or any of the other dreadful things you made Paul do, and I swear I’ll be a dedicated and faithful GMG reporter, so help me God. I never did have to take the official GMG oath, but I assume it goes something like that. BTW, how do I get one of those GMG Press Passes I’ve been hearing about – and my GMG bumpersticker?

You must have had a good letter of recommendation. My making it onto the elite crew of GMG reporters required me to submit, ten pieces of past prose, three letters of reference, grueling interviews by Ed Collard and Mayor Kirk, dragging lobster traps off the tree in four feet of snow last January, and my last test was judging the Hot Wings contest at the Farm. Almost blew that as I got a small droplet of the middle sauce prior to the 4.7 million scoville unit finale and cried like a baby until the bartender hosed me down with soda water. When I failed to win my arm wrestling contest a few weeks back with Bree at Stone’s Pub I’ve had to pick up the tab at Passport’s or else I was going to be demoted to office gopher again.

I had no idea. I feel so humbled and honored to be a part of the elite GMG crew. And I didn’t have to lug any lobster traps in the snow or arm wrestle anyone – thank God! (Then again, maybe Joey has something dreadful in store for me that I don’t know about.)

EJ Thank you for your contributions. “Did you know?” is one of my favorite features. If I don’t already know about the place you present, I feel glad to have been let in on it. If I do already know, I can feel smug. Win, win!
