Here is a real Gloucester fisherman.   The kind they should be writing books about.

  1. Only one complaint. It’s to short. Joey, I could listen to the stories all day. I just can’t get enough. And you are right, someone should be writing a book. That’s why I love f/v Black Sheep. It was his life. God rest his soul. I use to love seeing him driving around. Ya gotta love the old timers. At least he still has his hand in the business.

  2. Another thought Joey, Maybe someone could do an oral history of the fisherman in Gloucester. I took a little course in it at New Bedford but don’t look at me. I just am not good at it. That would be awesome. Like I said, at least Manny still has his hands helping. But someone like him and all the others, to have their words spoken in history would be totally awesome.

  3. I used to work for Manny. He is and was the best of the best. Manny in the old days had an all star crew… more guys were taught the art of fishing and went on their “own” because of Manny than any other captain out on the bay. That is just one reason the industry is on the decline – no more “Manny’s” out teaching the proper way.
Someone who writes the book will have a best seller on his hands.
