Causeway Panini 2.7 Pound Eggplant Parm

This is not a doctored photo. The Eggplant Parm I got from Causeway Panini yesterday weighed 2.7 pounds. The only reason I had to weigh it was because when the delivery person handed me the bag I thought there had to be two dinners in it.  When I discovered that the bag only contained my one dinner I just had to throw it on the grading scale we have down here at the dock.

I ate about 35% of it and will try to eat another third of it this morning.

For $5.95 you could feed a family of three or a family of 4 if they are not big eaters.

Crazy good deal!

Huge Mistake

Huge Mistake, originally uploaded by captjoe06.

Don’t ever do this to yourself. Unless you have a gazillion dollars(and if you have a gazillion dollars you could buy a shiny new boat).

What I’m talking about is this big huge boat that some poor guy fell in love with. He probably got a great deal on it because it was in poor shape and said to himself that with a little work he could make this old boat new again. A dream many people have.

The problem that most people don’t figure on is the cost to tie these huge boats up, and the cost to renovate something this huge by the time you get done with it you could have gone out and bought someone else’s mistake that they already sunk way too much money into and will never recover.

I feel for this guy. As time goes on and he continues to make the dockage payments and dump incredible amounts of money into this beast he is gonna be scratching his head saying “what did I get myself in to?”

Or maybe hes a masochist and enjoys the inflicted pain that this type of project ends up bringing on one’s self.

Paint Factory in Rough Shape

The Paint Factory isn’t looking so good.

It’s too bad that the guy that proposed to make a residence out of the place and maintain the exterior exactly the way it is wasn’t allowed to. Otherwise instead of deteriorating like this, it could have been preserved for all of us to enjoy and payed for with private dollars.

The obstructionists that got in the way can rejoice in another project they stymied.

Hooray!

Boats Tied up, Traps on the Dock

Boats tied up, lobster traps piled on the dock, it must be late February.

Gloucester Maritime Heritage Center Closed

Closed up tighter than a bulls ass at noon on a Saturday. I guess there isn’t much business in February to keep it open.

Cold dreary February. What, you expected a balmy 78 degrees?

Fire up that pot of coffee, put another log on the fire, and don’t forget that extra layer.  It’s winter people.

Some beefy construction here. These guys are not messing around.
