Welcome news for Gloucester’s musicians and music lovers! Diamond Cove Music is now open for business in downtown Gloucester. Tom Eaton, proprietor, specializes in stringed instruments, primarily guitars, ukeleles, banjos, and mandolins, and also repairs. He can special order music books and sheet music, too. Plans for jam sessions and music lessons are underway.
Diamond Cove Music is located at 57 Washington Street (conveniently two doors down from Sclafani’s Baker) and is open Christmas Eve Day from noon to 4pm.

Recently I joined a wonderful group of ukelists. Joe Cardozza is the Ukleadies simply amazing teacher. Everyone knows Joe from his musical partnership with RENEE and JOE MUSICÂ and from the Bandit Kings, but did you also know that he gives private music lessons in the comfort of your own home? You can download RENEE and JOE’s first full length studio recording, Dreamsteering, here. I am a fan of Renee’s singing and so far, my favoirte track is their beautiful song “Molly,” but I haven’t yet had a chance to listen to the entire album of songs.
Dreamsteering was recorded in Gloucester at Bang a Song Studio, and was engineered and mixed by Tony Goddess and Jen Morrison.
With ukelelists, singing, leis, grass skirts, hula-hoops, an island-style feast, and a fleet of wa’a kaukahis (kids in kayaks)–this was a Niles Beach Sunday not to be missed!

Thank you to Dawn and Michelle for inviting me to stay and have a bite of Esme’s wonderful luau birthday feast. John and Dawn prepared the most yummy pulled pork, served on Mandy’s homemade potato rolls, and guests contributed super delicious accompaniments, including the best bean salad, homemade, crunchy coleslaw, and Nicole Duckworth’s to-die-for death-by-chocolate cake.
