Cape Ann, Massachusetts (north of Boston)

This self-guided tour along the scenic coastline of Gloucester and Rockport presents a unique opportunity to meet 26 professional artists in 23 studios and see their work in the setting in which it was created. The work represented includes: pottery, painting, sculpture, photography, mosaics, fiber art and jewelry. Several of the artists will be demonstrating their working process during the tours. Brochures with route maps will be available at the Cape Ann Chamber of Commerce, the Rockport Information Booth on Rte. 127, on the Cape Ann Artisans web site and at each of the artisans — or download from capeannartisans.com.   A bright magenta Studio Tour banner will mark each location. Many studios are open year round.

This year, 2013 members have put together a stunning exhibit of their work at the Sawyer Free Library in Gloucester , MA . You can find pictures from the Library show and much more on our Facebook page.

CELEBRATING 30 YEARS

2013 marks an important milestone for the Cape Ann Artisans: It’s our 30th year, making this the oldest open studio tour in the US ! As a group, the Artisans have been welcoming folks from near and far into their studios since 1983. This year, with a whopping 23 open studios situated along the outer edges of this beautiful granite island, the tour is sure to delight both longtime visitors and newcomers alike.

Detailed descriptions and maps can be downloaded from www.capeannartisans.com. Brochures, which include a detailed map marking each studio location, can be found at information kiosks throughout Cape Ann, including the Cape Ann Chamber of Commerce on Commercial Street in Gloucester and the Rockport Information Booth on Rte 127 in Rockport; brochures are also available at each of the studios.

Cape Ann Artisans are ready for their Spring Open Studio Tour, June 18-19. All studios are open for the weekend.

Bring friends and family to visit the studios and meet the 14 Cape Ann Artisans. Make a day of it! Enjoy the extraordinary beauty of our coastline and sample our local seafood.

Sculpture, painting, textiles, jewelry, pottery, photography, mosaics…we have a selection of art that will be sure to please. Come join us!  

June 18th and 19th 10am to 5pm daily

Visit the studios of our tour members and see where they work, what they’ve been producing, and how they think about art and the creative process! Treats are served at many studios and everyone is marty signwelcome!
