Thursday Night Blues Party @ The Rhumb Line with Chris Stovall Brown 11.7.2013

dave s

Dave says,

Seems like forever since we had Chris Brown  to kick around, so I’m psyched that he’s returning to our stage this week. With all that tooth-picking guitar, flawless harp and vocals, what could go wrong?? He’s the top of the heap in my book; yours too, even if you have only seen him once. Burgomeister of the blues, he’ll have you feeling  like someone put Metrecal® in your shoes. You’ll be flying around the room like Peter Pan on steroids. Not only that, but Mr. Ephraim Lowell, Percival’s grandson and former ROB drummer, will be on hand egging us  toward paroxysm. NEW WINTER HOURS: 8 to 11. And thank you for your continued support!

 Dave says,

I’m feeling a little woozy tonite. I’ve been having strange dreams about penises and bolt cutters, and I just sneezed and a tiny metal pellet fell out of my nose. There’s some guy and he has big eyes and a pair of Craftsman® pliers squeezing my brain stem. Oh, wait, it’s only Fred!

But seriously, folks, I’m proud to present to you a new face, a new experience, a new surgical procedure in the form of Dr. Brian Templeton. Many cats grabbed and shook my arms and begged me to get this guy to play, and finally, here he is, the font of everlasting blues. Czech out his web site. Don’t ask me what it is, I can’t find it. Just kidding!
Again, I’m as serious as a hangnail, but you gotta see this guy to believe it. Calling in bombing co-ordinates will be Willie A’s master of guitar goulash, Mr. Billy Loosigian, who looks great in a cowboy hat, and knows how to spit between his teeth. Counting time and his blessings will be my favorite Irish Ace of Pace, Mr. Bennie Benson. I’m really excited about this.I hope you agree! I’m bringing’ extra Diaperine®!

And, to put a bug in your ear, Next week is Halloween™ and it falls on a Thursday™. And it’s party time, right!? You’re gonna wear a costume, nez. pa? And who’s better than to put a spell on you but John Keegan®? Well, he’s gonna be my featured specimen with a whole lot of eerie lackawanna, tubes pulsing as we go for the jugular. Make sure you’ve made your peace and assuaged the gods of Erato before dressing in that nearly nude costume. We’ll see you then.
And remember: We’re nothing without You, the viewer. Live mucus is best! Seethe me on Phasebooke:

Thursday ♪♫♪ Dave Sag’s Blues Party @ The Rhumb Line with Dennis Brennan, Matt Stubbs and Chris Rivelli 8-11

dave bw

Special treat this Thursday As we welcome a new guy to our fold. Mr. Dennis Brennan, vocalist and harp master, will be doin’ his thing with the likes of his  (and my!) good buddies, Mr. Matt Stubbs and  Roomful Drummer  Mr.Chris  Rivelli. Matt tears up the place no matter where it is and bongo boy really makes the groove happen. I’m looking’ forward to a great night of madness and martinis. Wear support hose.

I’m takin’ next week April11, off. I’m putting’ on my muddy boots and heading’ down to N’Awlins once again to hang out at the BP Oil Spill® Festival. Sponsored by Walt Disney, this outfit really knows how to get down and dirty. Corporations are people, too, my friends, and I’m so pleased that their ads show their great humanity and humility. Now if I could just get that oyster to stop waving’ a white flag….
Filling in the cavity left by my departure will be that friendly drummer, Jeff Casper and his band: Erin and the Soul Drivers, with my favorite big-eared bass buddy, Mr. Russell Keyes.
And write this down: April 18 Ms. Mari Martin returns with a blistering band featuring Bob Enik, on glitar, Jim Gambino, on keys, and Andrew Jones, on Drums. Last time Mari sang here, the heavens opened and stayed open.
And April 25, welcome back Mr. Greg Lutrell, fabulous guitarist and singer. He’s just got back from China, where he’s been all winter playing music and hacking into North Korea’s Sun Yung Guy’s  porno pod.
DON’T FORGET: we start at 8 pm now ,not 9. You’re the best. We love you!
I’m still not on Facebook, due to the large volume of nonsense, so , if you’ve got friends who want to know what’s going on, send me their email addresses. No pressure, no salesman will visit your home.

Check out Dennis Brennan

Meet Chocktaw Rocket

cr

Chocktaw Rocket a fairly new band around town. I’ve seen them twice before. Once, when they made their debut at The Cape Ann Brewery last year and then again at The Dog Bar Cape Ann, about a month ago.

We had the pleasure of hearing them this week at The Rhumb Line’s Monday night open jam . They were the first band to go on to play after The Bandit Kings opened up the evening.

The first song they performed was one that I have never heard before “Everybody’s Gonna Be Happy”.  It was so good that people hit the floor dancing and it seemed they very familiar with the tune.

Their second song was an original that Bill Foley wrote “My Type Of Girl”.  Both songs were lively, fun and great to dance to.

I hope we get to see more of this band around town soon

Choctaw Rocket is:

Bill Foley_ Vocals and Guitars
Thomas Mitchell_Bass Guitars
Frank Hawks_Lead Guitars
Tod Ellyson_Drums and Vocals
Paula Dion_Vocals and Percussion

Have a listen.
