Summer’s almost here! Yes, yes, Memorial Day weekend is upon us, and to celebrate, let’s have a ball! So here goes! This Thursday at the Rhumb line, welcome back Ms. Lydia Warren. Winner of many awards, this lady is known for her stinging guitar and plaintive vocals. She always wrecks the joint! She’s bringing along Mr. Ephraim Lowell, on drums and hopefully, Matt Kelly on gootar. We’ll see. Should be a blast.
That’s no typo. I hope you can join me and the phenomenal guitarist David Brown as I close out my run at Minglewood Tavern this Wednesday from 7-9pm.
I love when some of my previous musical guests come up and join me for a song or two. If you are so inclined, please do!
I also learned a very moving Townes Van Zandt song just for the evening and I will try to do it justice, with Fozzie Hill singing the Emmylou Harris part.
I hope you can make it!
John

She’s back….! That boisterous belter of the blues: Ms. Lisa Marie. Just back from the cotton harvest in Mississippi, she’s ready to drop that eleven foot sack on your big toe. One of our faves, this gal has the wherewithal to get your intestines in a double clove hitch! Till you cry “ooh whee!” She’ll be bringing along her posse of sympathetic players including “Silvertone” Steve or is it “Silverfish?” on guitar, Johnny Juxo, a new guy for me, on kleeboards, and Steevee “HaHa” Chaggaris, on defibrillators. I’ll be on base, in the corner, and hopefully, in the pocket. Do come! Our new hours are 8:30 to 11:30. And like Dave Brown says:” We are nothing without you!” I mean it. Free Serutan® to the first 300 contented fans!

Let’s welcome back that that guitar-chomping king of jiveological jetsam: Mr. Chris “Stovetop” Brown. It’s been too long and i’m happy to have him back and on my back to make me play better than ever. Now, if I only could get rid of this glug I’ve been having for weeks, life would be just ducky. Mr. Ephraim Lowell drums. Oh, and we’re back to summer hours: 8:30 to 11:30. I’ll be back to form soon!

Oh dear, My atomic piles are acting up…and there’s no cure but to present Mr. Dennis Brennan, the only cure for the blues. This cat is the sodium lamp of vocalization, with a great collection of hats and tunes to ease your pain and assuage your inner übermensch. Big D is one of my fave singers and easy to follow into his pungent cave of She did me wrong. Girls, tighten that bustiér. D is bringing along a new guitarist for us to taste: Mr.Tim Gearan. Known by reputation only, he comes here to ruin your life, musically speaking. I can’t wait. Temple throbbing provided by that Rheumful ‘o Blooze mainstay and imperial wizard, Mr. Chris Rivelli. I’ll be on bass as usual. N.B. Our hours are back to 8:30 to 11:30

But wait! There’s more. Czech out poster below. Sunday sees me in another incarnation as the Dupe of Earl in corralling the Good old Salty Jazz Band in providing accompaniment to the proceedings listed below. I don’t know much else, but it promises to be a great time. C’mon by and drink a beer and grind to your favorite hits from the Teens and Twenties. See below.
