Bike Riders and the Horribles Parade From John McElhenny

The Legendary Head of Hair, Skinny Jeans Wearing, King of The YMCA Basketball Courts, HUGELY INFLUENTIAL  John McElhenny writes-

I heard some bike riders are going to have a posse riding in the Horribles Parade (see below). I’m going to pull some strings to get them riding in the middle of the road right in front of your GMG float, just to mess with you.

READY, SET……GO!!! GET YOUR CREATIVE HATS ON AND COME ON DOWN. Fishtown Horribles Parade Tuesday July 3rd

Just wanted to remind everyone that the Fishtown Horribles will kick off once again from Gloucester High School at 6pm on Tuesday July 3rd.  There is NO fee to be in the parade and no pre-registration. We do ask all participants to sign a waiver agreeing to all the guidelines for a fun and safe parade. It is a first come first out parade line up. We do ask that if you come early that you check in with someone on the parade committee so we can confirm you are in the correct area. Please remember that one of our biggest fundraisers is the parade itself, we need your donations to keep this parade alive!

If you have any questions please contact Chairman Dave Tucker at 508-517-1731, email fishtownhp@gmail.com or you can contact anyone on the parade committee!

Way To Go Team!

The 2011 Horribles Parade is in the books and the complete list of thank-yous will be coming along with videos from the beginning stages of building the GMG Float right on through to the award ceremony along with more comprehensive photos of the entire crew from Manny Simoes and David Cox.

If you see any of our sponsors around town extend my gratitude for their support and congratulate them on our Bringing home the Judge’s Choice Award!- Peter and Vickie VanNess from GimmeSound, The Borge’s At The Lone Gull , Eric at Passports and Ed Collard’s House Doctors Handyman Services.

There’s not much more fun that you can have than walk with your family and friends in the greatest parade of them all, The Fishtown Horribles Parade!

Our man Craig Kimberley got some incredible footage along the parade route which will take some time to edit down but he tells me we will have a short video trailer some time today and the longer more comprehensive version later on.

Sista Felicia on lead once again proves why she’s the best at what she does and that’s why I have complete confidence in her.

I had zero to do with the construction of the Float, all the thanks go to the following people-

Huge thanks to our builders-

Bro-In Law Barry, Sista Felicia, Ed Collard, Jeremy Frost Construction, our mother “Mammaw”, Next Door Neighbor Dianna (whose last name I’d never get right in a million years) Frank, Joey and Mikayla Ciolino,Taylor Frost and Amandacakes and BJ.  Paulie Walnuts  printed up the limited run t-Shirts and Greg Harris’ Briarwood Landscaping  provided us with the trailer.  Frank and Joey Ciolino did the truck detailing.  Will Hunt  donated the PA system.

All our GMG peeps who showed up to walk and bring the energy including our title sponsor Vickie Van Ness and Johnny on the Sound system.  Ed Collard was a man possessed on sticker duty.  Mammaw who tried to make sure the kids who were out of reach for candy still got some along the route.  The Ryan clan- Patrick J-WOW, Molly and Emma who showed up and worked the crowd along with a roller skating Paul Morrison!

Our Squirt Gunners Connor and Kyle Frost,Seth Murray and BJ (Beasley).  Danny Powers and Sarah Francis,Lexi Orlando, Caroline Murray and Emma powers along with Amandacakes and Snoop Maddie Mad on Candy Patrol.  Manny Simoes and David Cox for capturing it in pictures (which we will see in future postings).

Our lobsters- Lanie and Skyler Noble and The Bean.   Our Homies- Vickie and Johnny Van Ness, Emma Powers and Deanna (Whose last name I’ll never get right in a million years).  Our mermaids, Emma and Molly Ryan, Taylor Frost.

And how bout that Craig Kimberly on video duty who goy a ton of footage with multiple cameras of the community along the parade route!

We had lobsters, we had mermaids, we had homies, but most of all we had each other to share and make even more new memories in the community we love.

You guys are the best!

The Boss

(much better pictures than I took will be coming all week long from the parade route)

2011 GMG Horribles Parade Float Preview and Horribles Parade and Fireworks Info

DSC05750

The picture above this text is as much as Sista Felicia will let me show you as there have already been reports of spies in and around GMG float building headquarters.

The team has been working around the clock and I can safely say this is their best effort yet.  Can’t wait to see all of you along the parade route and if we haven’t met please be sure to introduce yourself and cheer on the GMG float.  We will have limited amount of GMG stickers version 5.0 so if you don’t have one come ask me for one (thanks Frank Ciolino and Shew for producing them and Beth Swan for designing them) also Candy Galore (175lbs worth) to pass out.

The kids are fired up and the adults are exhausted but the results are astounding.

Listen for the all Gloucester Soundtrack which was put together by Gloucester Based Peter and Vickie Van Ness’ www.gimmesound.com and features- Allen Estes, Bandit Kings, Bingo Fridays, Chelsea Berry, Dan King, Earl & Arch, Erinn Brown, Everybody’s Neil, Fly Amero, Gary Shane, Henri Smith, Hoodoo Revelator, Inge Berge, Karen Ristuben, Lisa Landy, Michael O’Leary, Mile 21, Pete Lindberg, Runaround Sound, Satch Kerans, Tod Ellyson, Tony Hilliard, Will Hunt, Willie Alexander

GMG Float To Feature Local Soundtrack For 2011 Horribles Parade- I Want To See All My Homies Shaking Their Tail Feathers!

Sista Felicia continues her assault on the budget and promises and over-the-top float this year!  It better be, she keeps coming back to me to hit up the wallet.

Title Sponsor Peter Van Ness Writes-

You asked for it.  You got it.  Music.  The best independent music north of Boston will be blasting from the GMG Float on July 3 thanks to Will Hunt (Celebrate Gloucester sound man, who is donating the PA) and all the extraordinary musicians who live here.

We’ve put together the Ultimate Gloucester Area Playlist with music from 2 dozen local artists on gimmesound.com.  ALL THE MUSIC IS LOCAL, INDEPENDENT MUSIC!  Best if all, IT’S EXCELLENT MUSIC.  Rock, pop, blues, soul, indie, jazz, country, celtic, ska, folk, reggae, americana, and more!

What better way to celebrate our independence than with independent music from Gloucester, which is becoming known to have one of the most vibrant music scenes in the US — Austin of the Northeast!

You wanted music, Joey, and you got it.

Here’s a list of some of the local musicians who you’ll hear from the GMG float (alphabetical by First Name — expect a few surprises too):

Allen Estes, Bandit Kings, Bingo Fridays, Chelsea Berry, Dan King, Earl & Arch, Erinn Brown, Everybody’s Neil, Fly Amero, Gary Shane, Henri Smith, Hoodoo Revelator, Inge Berge, Karen Ristuben, Lisa Landy, Michael O’Leary, Mile 21, Pete Lindberg, Runaround Sound, Satch Kerans, Tod Ellyson, Tony Hilliard, Will Hunt, Willie Alexander

Much Thanks To All Of Our Friends and Sponsors Including-

Help building from Bro-In Law Barry, Sista Felicia, Ed Collard, Jeremy Frost Construction and the kids.  Paulie Walnuts will be printing up the limited run t-Shirts and Greg Harris’ Briarwood Landscaping is providing us with the trailer.  Frank and Joey Ciolino are doing the truck detailing.  will Hunt is donating the PA system.

Of Course it wouldn’t be possible without sponsorship from these fantastic community minded businesses-

Bring Back The Fourth Contest

Melissa Cox writes-

I really could use your help in getting the word out about this contest. All you have to do is click on this link, answer 8 questions (you don’t even have to be correct!) and enter your Name/Email address/City, State and Zip Code.  Every entry counts as a vote for Gloucester as long as that is what you enter at the end of the questions! You don’t even have to live here to vote for our city. Gloucester, MA 01930 is the only thing that you need to know to get the vote in for the city. This could really help out the Fishtown Horribles Parade and the cost do do this is ZERO!! Just a few minutes of your time.  The contest ends on June 14th. Please Please Please help us out. One vote per person per computer!
