The lovely Miss Jana Winter just called to inform me that she was not in fact “blowing smoke up may ass”
(apparently she has been following along the Marie Claire posting and comments from earlier today)
She went on further to say that she was going to do a positive story on Gloucester, not because it’s a noble thing to do or an act of kindness, but because as a journalist, it’s what she believes and what she gets paid to do- To report on what she experiences.
And what she has experienced while she was here has been fantastic.
She went to Passports last night and got the lobster, BTW.
I mean how could you go wrong there, right? Especially with Captain Joe & Sons lobster on your plate!

Local guy from Briar Neck writes his own blog, From what I can tell it’s not so much about local stuff but the guy is living and blogging from here and gave us a shout out yesterday so I thought I’d return the favor today.

In the right of the picture you can see the rose hip which is what is left after the flowers fall off of the stems. The rose hips are the fruit which people used to make jam out of in the old days. In a couple months the rose hips will turn orange-red from the present green color.

Here Cyntia handles a couple of two lb lobsters with no protective lobster bands. Never once did we hear her complain.

My buddy Janice forwarded this to me-
Media’s coverage fishy in Gloucester
Winslow Homer’s Gloucester is dynamic, hardworking and beautiful. In “Shipbuilding: Gloucester Harbor” and “Sailing Out of Gloucester,” he captured heritage and beauty at once. “Gloucester Houses” and “Prospect Street,” under the hammer of Edward Hopper’s light, portray a strong, stable Gloucester. In 2008, the city is still dynamic, hardworking, stable – and beautiful.
For those who know this, and love Gloucester because of it, the coverage of teen pregnancies here dismays. Not the factual coverage. It is tragic that so many girls, for the bleakest reasons, chose to become pregnant. The city is saddened by this and working to stop what has to be termed an epidemic.
The message is not the problem. Embarrassment is not a problem, either; no one I know is afraid of confronting a flawed civic self in the mirror. It’s the lie that’s a problem.
