Good Time Had By All Fiesta Saturday at Cape Ann Brewing

The brewery tours were pretty popular as when one would start a whole gaggle of folks headed into the back to get the first hand brewery experience.

Very laid back especially for being in the heart of the Fiesta.

4th Annual Gloucester New Arts Festival Details:
The 2008 Gloucester New Arts Festival (GNAF) is continuing its commitment to high quality contemporary art and performance in the unique iconic and under-utilized spaces of Gloucester , MA . This year highlights the well-honed craft of improvised music and dance performance for a choice few of Gloucester ‘s unique historic landmarks.

The festival will take place on August 23 and 24, and for the second year, all performances are once again TOTALLY FREE of charge.  By eliminating ticket sales, we must raise this through fundraising!

Society for the Encouragement of the Arts (seARTS) through the
Massachusetts Cultural Council John and Abigail Adams Grant.

Things To Do- USS Whidbey Island Tours This Weekend.

The USS Whidbey Island moored in the outer harbor. Look at the size of the ship tied up alongside it. It is dwarfed by the size of the Navy ship.

Here is a picture of the boat that is tied up next to The USS Whidbey. It looks massive inside our harbor but tiny alongside the Whidbey.

Lazy Daizy Restoration Project 6/25/08

In case any of my loyal readers thought I was going to leave you hanging on the complete abandonment Lazy Daizy Restoration Project, here is the latest photo of it’s progress in the month of June. I wonder how much the rent is each month on a boat that doesn’t leave the dock.

Rudder and Prop on The Holy Mackerel

If you notice on the rudder there is a silver zinc and also on the bottom of the keel.

The reason that boat owners replace the zincs when they haul out is because electrolysis eats away at metal under the water line on a boat but it eats away at the zincs first so the rest of the metal goes untouched by the electrolysis. If the boat owner keeps up on replacing the zincs when they get eaten away the other metal below the boat will stay in better shape over time.
