A little of that Cape Ann winter hibernation thing is still going on around here (especially on cold, rainy days like today), but tomorrow you’ll have the chance to shake off that favorite blanket you’ve had draped over you for the last three months, get off your couch, and step outside into actual Spring sunshine. Come on down to the Community House in Rockport where we’re serving Twin Lights Soda, Coffee, Cupcakes and giving you the opportunity to take a photo with Motif No. 1 itself! There’ll be some dancing magic too, and if you’re lucky, maybe some GMG contributors will even show up to shake a leg. Rumor has it that no one cuts a rug like Paul Morrison, the smoothest scientist in Rockport. Admission is a Pay-What-You-Can donation, with all proceeds going to support programming for Motif No. 1 Day & Rockport’s HarvestFest. Check out www.rockportartfestivals.com for more info and we hope to see all of our friends and neighbors there for a real Community bash!

Katherine Faherty Fundraiser At Jalapeños on April 11
I was wondering if you would be willing to post my fundraising event on Good Morning Gloucester. I am currently training to run the San Diego Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon through Team in Training. Team in Training the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society’s largest fundraising effort. I have pledged to raise $3000 for them while I train for the marathon on June 5, 2011.
I decided to get involved with Team in Training because I work for a national cancer research group and have met many people who have dedicated their lives to finding cures for cancer. This program is a great opportunity for me to do more for cancer research. Through my work, I have met two Lymphoma survivors who both participated in Team in Training. One has run 14 marathons and the other completed a century ride. I also have two teammates who I am training with who are both celebrating 10 years of remission. These are the people who are motivating me to train and raise money for LLS.
My fundraising event is at Jalapeños on April 11. They will be donating 10% of the night’s profits (dinner and drinks) to LLS. I will also have great door prizes and a Red Sox Ticket Raffle.
Thank you, Katherine Faherty

seARTS Note-Card Opportunity

seARTS would like to create a “Cape Ann Collection” of note-cards representing contemporary artists of Cape Ann. This is an opportunity to showcase the diverse and colorful range of artists and designers working and living here. Whether you make cards representing your work or make note-cards exclusively, we are interested in your submissions. You do not have to be a member of seARTS to participate in this program.
seARTS will assemble a package of 15-20 different note-cards in unique seARTS packaging and the package will include a list of participating artists, with contact information for each. The cards will be offered for sale as a mini-fundraiser at the Fall Fundraiser From Broadway to Beauport October 17, 2009. They will also be for sale on the seARTS website. Note-Cards are a great way to market your work, so we recommend having all your contact information on the card as well!
The cards will be reviewed for quality and diversity. If your card is chosen we will be asking you to (create if you haven’t already done so) and donate a minimum of 50 cards, preferred quantity is 100 of the same card to make up the sets for the Fall Fundraiser. If this is successful, we will continue the program through the end of the year and work with artists on a commission basis.
After designs are accepted we would ask the artist to provide cards for the sets.
Please email or mail up to 3 different design samples to:
Stephanie Mason-Thibodeau
PO Box 6006
Gloucester, MA 01930
email: searts2009@gmail.com
You will be notified by September 18th if your card is accepted.

GHS Lacrosse Fundraiser Tomorrow Night
From Jim Frontiero-
Sharon, thank you for giving me your contact info last Saturday night. As you may or may not know I am father to two GHS athletes. My twin sons Alex & James have played for the GHS boys lacrosse team for the past three years.
Playing a team sport like lacrosse has taught them valuable lessons that I know they will use throughout their life. Our school sports programs are all in need of community support, lack of city and state funding has passed much of the cost of these programs on to the parents of each athlete and the Boosters.
Could you post the attached PDF flyer and or info about a fundraiser for the lacrosse boosters being held at Captain Carlo’s tomorrow night?
I know it would help our efforts to be seen on Good Morning Gloucester.
Thank you so much for your help.

Rescheduled Russo Fundraiser TODAY Sunday February 15th at 1:30PM

Please join us in this important event that was rescheduled due to bad weather last month–
On January 3, 2009 the Gloucester fishing boat Patriot sank taking the lives of Matteo Russo and John Orlando. Matteo Russo, 36, leaves behind a pregnant wife and four year old son. To help the family Joe Ciaramitaro of GoodMorningGloucester.com and Robert Newton of Cape Ann Community Cinema are holding a fund-raiser on Sunday, February 15, 1:30 pm, at Gloucester Stage Company, 267 East Main St. A portion of the proceeds will be contributed to the family. Tickets are $7.00.
For more information, please click here.
We will have GMG TShirts Available For Purchase and 100% of the proceeds will go to the family. Every dollar you spend toward a tshirt will be deposited into a bank account for the children of Matteo Russo after the event this coming Sunday. So please come, have a great time, see some incredible footage of Gloucester and help the family of this horrible tragedy.
I saw several of the presentations and I can’t begin to tell you how awesome it is going to be. For a measly $7 you will be completely entertained, and donate to a great cause.
The show is awesome led off with Rob Newton’s collection of vintage Gloucester postcards scanned in high resolution. We saw a sample of these at the first GGAP event and it was a whole lot of fun seeing old Gloucester on the big screen and guessing where some of the locations were.
Sharon Lowe -GMG contributor and Flapping Like A Haddock blogger presents her video, “Wall St. Autumn,” is a close-up look at the beauty of fall in East Gloucester.
After that we get to see the very fresh perspective slideshow from John Hintlian, a photographer, surfer, and web designer “Never The Same Place Twice: The Many Moods Of Cape Ann”. John’s presentation and photography style is unique and fresh and I think you’re going to love his work (passion). You can check out John’s blog Hye Tyde
Next up Oliver Horowitz will present his short buddy film, “Eddie & Paul,” which was shot entirely in Gloucester in December 2007.
To finish Steve Borichevsky, my favorite Gloucester Photography blogger with his ShootingMyUniverse will present his video, “Walking About Gloucester: Images From America’s Oldest Seaport,” showing pictures of Gloucester and its wildlife set to music including Van Morrison. I just love Steve’s photography.
Art Haven Lobster Buoys Up For Auction
Don’t anyone even think about getting into a bidding war with me at tomorrow nights lobster buoy auction to benefit Art Haven at Cruiseport. I have my eye on that lobster buoy and I don’t want things to get ugly so just stay the hell away from bidding on the lobster one.
Are we clear?
