Summer Time Is Lobster Eating Time

A couple of days ago Dennis Silva, owner of the Topside Grill stopped by the dock to pick up his lobsters for the restaurant as he does daily. He gets them daily because he is a freak for freshness and quality and wants the freshest possible lobsters each day.

Anyway a couple of our lobstermen were offloading when Dennis showed up and I mentioned to them how Dennis has a lobster dinner on his menu for $13.99. It made the guys feel good that the guy that was buying the lobsters that they just sold me were going to a guy that was marketing them right.

A major beef with lobstermen is when places charge ridiculous prices for lobsters and make them unaffordable for the average person when in reality they aren’t that much money to put on a menu.

Passports Braciole

Jeremy at Passports whipped up this for me just before the liquor licensing meeting for the block party last night.  OUTSTANDING!

Erik Lorden At Passports Displays His Downtown Herb Garden Video

Erik Lorden steps up big after disappointing as a no-show in the Downtown Gloucester Merchants Flower Box Competition.

He knew he had to either come strong with some outside the box creativity or face being ridiculed by me for not representing.

The boy brought his A Game and creativity in his Sustainable Cape Ann best with flower boxes containing herbs that he uses in some of his tastiest dishes.

Upcoming video of Erik explaining the motive behind his new herb garden (no, not that kind of herb) in his newly installed flower baskets in front of Passports.

Since the Downtown Merchants Flower Box Competition, there have been at least 8 storefronts that now have Flower boxes that didn’t have them before the competition.   I love it!

Jalepenos Construction Update 8/4/08

The bar is hugggggggge.  It’s starting to really take shape. Luis told me that the bar will seat 18.

I dig the warm colors they are using.  It will be a welcoming dining experience in the dead of winter when everything is cold and gray.

Jim and his crew are not messing around.  Their sauce is sweet and tangy with just the right amount of spiciness.

Smokin Jim’s Menu

I got the combo #2.  It’s hard for me to justify spending more than $10 for lunch.  That seems to be where I cap out my lunch spending dollars.

If you click the picture and select “all sizes” you will get the full size more readable version.

Breakfast At Stone Soup on Lobster Cove

Took my girls to Stone Soup on Lobster Cove yesterday morning. It was windy as hell but hat a beautiful spot.

They have a limited menu which didn’t include my favorite the Merry Breakfast Sandwich, but the home made corned beef hash was very very good. Pricing was a little on the high side but the location and setting more than make up for it.

The coffee was great too. My pal Toby tells me they brew RAO coffee.
