Join The Cripple Cove Quintet featuring The Goddesses (and featuring James Cohen on drums) for their last scheduled gig before The Goddesses take a summer-long break to go forth and multiply.  Three sets of rock and roll standards, harmonies, guitarmonies, and dancing at The Rhumb Line on Saturday, May 3rd, 2014 starting at 9:30pm.

Thrill Ride is a band made up of, shredding guitar, heart pounding bass, ripping keys, pocket drums, and powerful female vocals. The band plays top 40 of today and the past. You can expect to hear anything from Bruno Mars to Etta James, to B52’s and Katy Perry, Zac Brown Band, to Elvis. Let’s welcome back that that guitar-chomping king of jiveological jetsam: Mr. Chris “Stovetop” Brown. It’s been too long and i’m happy to have him back and on my back to make me play better than ever. Now, if I only could get rid of this glug I’ve been having for weeks, life would be just ducky. Mr. Ephraim Lowell drums. Oh, and we’re back to summer hours: 8:30 to 11:30. I’ll be back to form soon!

Oh dear, My atomic piles are acting up…and there’s no cure but to present Mr. Dennis Brennan, the only cure for the blues. This cat is the sodium lamp of vocalization, with a great collection of hats and tunes to ease your pain and assuage your inner  übermensch. Big D is one of my fave singers and easy to follow into his pungent cave of She did me wrong. Girls, tighten that bustiér.
D is bringing along a new guitarist for us to taste: Mr.Tim Gearan. Known by reputation only, he comes here to ruin your life, musically speaking. I can’t wait. Temple throbbing provided by that Rheumful ‘o Blooze mainstay and imperial wizard,
Mr. Chris Rivelli. I’ll be on bass as usual. N.B. Our hours are back to 8:30 to 11:30

Sunday sees me in another incarnation as  the Dupe of Earl in corralling the Good old Salty Jazz Band in providing accompaniment to the proceedings listed below. Let’s welcome back the Ipswich Twins! That’s Mr. Orville Giddings and his neighbor and lawn-mowing customer, Mr. Marque Earley. Mr. G. ,superior gootarist and Pepsodent® spokesperson, is ready to charm you  with his raucous blues and plaintive self-inflicted toons. A great songwriter! And Marque, of course, is the finest living local saxophonist who ever lived, locally. Whooping it up on drums will be out favorite kooky cackler, Mr. Steevee Chaggaris. I’ll be on base, once again. Spring has sprung, so get out there and do the do!

Mikey, long known as a silver-tongued crooner and water-slide glitarist, wrecked the joint last time around. We’re aiming for a repeat performance as he drags in his long time buddy George McCann, on Qatar, kicking and screaming. Seems these two cats had a hot band once, but now are satisfied feeding me kielbasa and listening to my bad jokes. Even Benny Benson, our Irish Ace of Pace and agitator par excellance is motivated to skim the froth and get down to the nitty gritty. So, come early and stay late. Bring a date and dine by the whites of her eyes!

  The Happy Ending Social Club is proud to present Mr. Brian Templeton to our stage this week. Last time he was here, the joint had to be repainted. Mr. B., nasty harpist and vocallist that he is, will have you on the floor with his myriad vocal keenings and  harmonica sorties.DSC09412

I’m psyched this week cuz my favorite gaggle of comedic cats are showing up for another roast. It’s been a long time so let’s welcome back Mr. Ricky “King” Russell. Ricky had a terrible accident a while ago at CERN when a stray Higgs boson collided with one of his guitar licks,splitting several atoms and his pants. His tailor has pronounced him fit to play.

Next, there’s “Mr.Ed” Scheer, equine vocalist and world’s foremost Diaperene® expert, on drums. Ed is always laughing at anything I say, even when it’s not funny. Go figure.
Then, girls, there’s “Super Mario” Perrett, former rockstar and Hai Karate© spokesmodel, on tenor sax. Gawd, he is so handsome! See for yourself.
And finally, there’s me, but you know that. But seriously, folks, I love these guys; they all play and sing so well, and laugh so loud. I nearly choked to death on my fifth drink last time. You will, too. Come early and stay late! We hit at 8 P.M.

We’re gonna throw you another curveball this week and present to you a swinging night of country music featuring the Depot Cafe All-Stars. Led by the inimitable J.B. Amero, who needs no introduction and who has never eaten  broccoli in his entire life.  Manly! This will be his first time leading us blues type guys by the nose. He’ll have you crying in your beer with his buttery, plaintive versions of the Great American Country Schongbook. He’s lassoed the great Dave Brown and David Mattacks to help with the proceedings. We’re gonna be spitting Metamucil between our teeth all night long. There’ll be a contest for the best mullet in town. You’ll be drinking through the straw that broke the camel’s back! Don’t miss it!
