REMINDER: COYOTE FORUM TONIGHT AT CITY HALL

Tonight at 7pmĀ the coyote forum will be held at Kyrouz Auditorium. The program sounds similarĀ to the one presented last year at this time. If you plan to go, leave early because last year the auditorium was packed.

EAST GLOUCESTER COYOTE LAIR #2

Coyote lair ©Kim Smith 2016Evidence of a second coyote lair, found at Brace Cove. There were 5 piles of fresh coyote scat along with neat piles of bones scattered throughout the rocky clearing. Coyotes mostly sleep above ground in an open clearing, unless it is pup season.

Reminder also about Monday night’s informational meeting about living with wildlife, City Hall, at 7pm. More information here.Ā

COYOTE LAIR FILMED IN GLOUCESTER!

Coyotes typically sleep above ground in the open or under cover of shrubbery and wooded patches. Pup season is the only time coyotes use a den, which is usually a rocky outcrop, hollowed out stump, or a burrow made by fox, raccoon, skunk, or other medium-sized mammal. Coyotes will also make a den by digging a hole.

The color and shape of coyote poop (scat) varies, depending on what food is available. Purportedly atĀ this time of year the scat is oftentimes reddish-orange because their diet is rich in apples.
