You can often see them very late in the day as they are beginning their night time journey, traveling along the shores of Cape Ann before crossing Massachusetts Bay on their southward migration.

With the frigid front moving in, last night’s sunset from Niles Beach revealed a crystal clear view to the Boston skyline. The warm hues in the photo are deceptive; a biting wind was whipping about. Peach met violet in the low hanging clouds and I thought the whole scene looked like a modern impressionist’s painting.

When I lived in East Boston, we believed we had the best Boston skyline view. Granted it was closer, but we have a really nice view here without the traffic and crazy drivers.

I don’t know what this was – strange cloud formation, LNG tanker explosion, skyscrapers erected overnight in Quincy, a giant sea serpent – but it created a very different look to the horizon this morning from Eastern Point.
