Chickity Check It!- L A Dahlmer

Brenda Malloy sent me the link to Larry Dahlmer’s website-

From the site-

Recollections of my life on the island and the heritage of the fishing industry from the days of Champlain, through my art.

Dedicated to the growing family tree of Dahlmer’s, and motivated with the idea of capturing the essence of what fishing “out of Gloucester” has meant for the last 400 years.

Grandfather John Dahlmer brought the newly-launched Margaret D. to Gloucester from Charlevoix, Michigan in 1911.

He, brother Lawrence and son Ronald sailed her along the same route that  had brought  many new families from the Lakes to Gloucester the previous year.

The hundredth anniversary approaches, Gloucester changes, as the world. In the coming years I will show  a reflection of what has passed in just a couple of generations.

Twin Light Soda T Shirts At Alexandra’s Bread

Yawn…… just another cool ass local item for sale at Alexandra’s Bread.  The hits just keep coming!  Also available othere classics from our childhood- Orangeade and Lemon & Lime styles.

If you haven’t stopped by there yet you’re missing out on a local gem for sure. Here’s a detailed map- Alexandra’s Bread Map– Now you have no excuse.

Arley Pett’s Beautiful Old School Gloucester Map Coasters At Alexandra’s Bread

Every time I go into Alexandra’s bread I’m astounded by all the cool stuff in there.  It’s not just bread either.  I hesitate to say that Alexandra’s talents are almost wasted in this space because I’d hate to see her go, but really she ought to be a buyer for a huge store.  She has assembled the coolest collections of things like Arley Pett’s 1899 Gloucester Map Coasters.

Hand Made In America Trailer

Thanks to Jo-Ann Castano for this-

[Vimeo 2992669]

I was brought up to think numbers.  Dad got US News and World Report and I couldn’t get enough of charts and graphs and later would go on to major in economics at a business school.  It hasn’t been til the later part in my life  that I have come to understand just how important Art and the process of creating is to one’s being.  Once you start to create, you have a hunger to continue to create and expand upon your medium.  It may be hard to explain correctly but once you get that feeling, that desire, it’s not hard at all to understand that hunger and how miserable you can feel if you don’t feed it.
