And so it begins. My Eloise who was 5 and a half months old when I published my first blog post on GMG, is now looking at colleges.
Huge thanks to Cosmo Palazola, son of my former roommate Tom PAL for showing us around the school, which is basically smack dab in the heart of the city.
After breakfast at new joint Bodega, touring the school and grabbing lunch at roofdeck spot “The Watch” we headed out to Shem Creek which came highly recommended by Mark Ring who may or may not have nearly drowned when trying to swim across Shem Creek with his fishing boots on.

Violinist Lucia Lin joined the Boston Symphony Orchestra in 1985 and has enjoyed a stellar career as soloist, chamber musician, and recording artist. She debuted at age 11 when she performed Mendelssohn’s Violin Concerto with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra. Since then, she has won numerous competitions, including the 1990 International Tchaikovsky Competition in Moscow. She has appeared with the Boston Pops, the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra, the Oklahoma Symphony Orchestra, the Cincinnati Chamber Orchestra, and the Festival Orchestra in Graz, Austria. She previously appeared with the North Shore Philharmonic Orchestra in 2015.
Danish Composer Carl Nielsen wrote his first Symphony in 1891-92 and dedicated the work to his wife, renowned sculptor Anne Marie Carl-Nielsen. The work is known for its distinctively “Danish” flavors and Nielsen’s personal style.
Out of concern for the health and safety of all musicians and audience members, the North Shore Philharmonic Orchestra requires all patrons attending the concert present proof of a Covid-19 vaccination, or proof of a negative Covid-19 test no more than 72 hours prior to the concert. Home tests are not accepted. Patrons will be required to wear masks and socially distance in the auditorium.

These were taken at high tide the day BEFORE the winds were supposed to ramp up earlier this week. I got myself a nice sea water shower in the frigid air. I didn’t mind.

I always knew there was a logic to it, but I never saw it explained so well until I stumbled upon this delightfully informative short video on how the US interstates are numbered.
Those with 2-digits traverse the entire country If they end in “0” they run East-West (10, 20, 30, ..) If they end in “5” they run North-South (5, 15, 25, ..)
Those with 3-digits are bypasses and contain the last 2 digits of the interstates they bypass.
That’s it! (plus exceptions 😉 )
