What a Gig
My younger son, Finn, recently began rowing with the Gloucester Gig Rowers. What a great club… he’s happy to have yet another opportunity to be on the water and be introduced to a different aspect of Gloucester’s rich maritime culture. You can check them out here: https://www.gloucestergigrowers.com/

Dashing Young Buck
The same afternoon we entertained a visit from a feeding osprey, this young buck took a dash across the marsh. It’s a totally entertaining back yard we have in Magnolia!!!

Culture Splash is back for 2022, building off the success of last summer’s inaugural program.

Culture Splash is back for 2022, building off the success of last summer’s inaugural program. Gloucester is the only city in Massachusetts to have two designated cultural districts. This summer our cultural districts join forces to celebrate and promote our vibrant cultural organizations, creative groups and individuals, galleries, artists and non-profits. Join Rocky Neck Cultural District and Harbortown Cultural District in celebrating the very best of what Gloucester has to offer.
Every Thursday evening from June 23 to August 25, a different cultural organization will be spotlighted on Rocky Neck and in Harbortown. These signature cultural hosts will welcome visitors and residents from 4:00 to 7:00pm, highlighting their cultural work and programs in an Open House format, free to the public. Additionally, each host will bring together the offerings from the local creative community with performances, openings, and presentations. So that you can see ALL that each night has to offer, we are hosting free Harbor Shuttle access from 4:00 to 8:00pm between Harbor Loop and Rocky Neck. Shuttle will be leaving every half hour from the Harbormaster dock and the docks by the Studio.
Gloucester has a robust cultural community beyond compare. With so much to experience, we encourage you to join us. Music, art, culture, heritage, galleries, dance, and maritime history awaits. Make this the summer you get out and experience it all. Check back for weekly event activities and business happenings.
Culture Splash is brought to you by Rocky Neck Cultural District and Downtown Cultural District, made possible by a grant from the Mass Cultural Council.

Early mornings at the dock. It’s beginning to feel a lot like #lobster season.

The best popcorn in Massachusetts is here! Children are especially welcome. Folding chairs and blankets are good.

Kops and Kids Angler Program Is Wildly Successful

City Hall Sunset
While this photo doesn’t do it justice (sigh) the sunset behind City Hall last night was tremendous. I pulled over to watch it for a moment and was so happy that I did. Watching the inner harbor fall asleep at the end of a busy…and incredibly hot…day was just what I needed.
